This pistol holds 48 rounds. The only thing wrong with it is that it uses pointless proprietary caseless ammo.

Why didn't this type of feeding system become more popular?

Probably because it was lierally called the VAG73.

>Put 6 round into guy

>put 48 expensive and non refillable rounds into guy
>ded

whats the difference?

cartridge length. Take a look at 5.7, which is pushing the limits of how long a mag well can be and still fit in the hand. 40mm overall length. .32 ACP and .380 ACP are both 25mm overall length. You'd have to make a custom extra short cartridge to avoid making the grip fuckheug

a single person assaulting/mugging you is not the only situation guns are used in. Police get into gun fights, the military does, sometimes people as well, against multiple people, and in situations where they don't land half the rounds you fire.
>>
>>30453019
when you are using a huge cartridge you don't need to hit the guy with more than two shots.
>>
>>30452985
About a thousand bucks.

Due to cook off issues. The future weapons project that was run in the 80s by the US DoD to find the next best weapon for the infantry had that issue with both caseless ammunition rifles

noice

Also, that gun must be complex as fuck, OP.
>>
>>30453360
Yeah they had a rotating chamber, round pushes into chamber then rotates to alignore with barrel and firing pin, fired so fast and the isolation of parts from dissipating their heat caused fuckhuge thermal issues and crazy cookoff.
Really ducking cool especially for its time though.
One used a tiny but long and heavy sabot round, while the other used flechette, both had cyclic fire rates close to 1500rpm and very low recoil due to firing assembly buffering as a single unit with almost forward/reverse cycling mass
>>
>>30453463
that sounds like they got the idea from hk
>>
>>30453754
That's because it was H&K. They submitted an improved G11. AAI and Steyr had flechette designs. Colt had an improved M16 that fired duplex bullets.

Don't need a huge cartridge, 9mm Luger and .380ACP works well in defensive loads.

The VAG73 necessitates a shit cartridge, it was excessively dirty, had huge headspacing issues, and simply doesn't offer anything that a .32ACP couldn't, short of capacity (it was a more modern and slightly less shit .41 Rocketball, basically)

I'd MUCH rather have a Vz.61 machinepistol than the vagina pistol.

It doesn't have to be though. All it needs is the tandem magainze. The 1964 Springfield armory SPIW had a tandem mag and it wasn't very complicated
>>
>>30452525
For use in a pistol it requires shorter ammunition. 5.7x28mm is nearing the longest that you can comfortably fit in a magazine and is 1.6" long. To have 2 columns front to back that would require a cartridge around .8" long (would likely end up with something like 9x13mm or 7.65x13mm with performance comparable to .380/.32 ACP if you increased the pressure accordingly). Another problem that exists with that type of magazine in general is that it must have some type of mechanism to prevent both columns from feeding at the same time and if that mechanism gets damaged your gun will not feed reliably unless you empty half of the magazine manually outside of the gun. That mechanism can be included either in the gun where failure will near completely take the gun out of commission or in the magazines which will significantly increase the price of magazines and increase the chances of that part failing.

Because tandem magazines are best with two distinct magazines.

What do they call the 14th month in the future?

Never mind, that other guy was taking about caseless, not the mag
