Im considering buying this AMD for $519. What can I expect and will it suck?
>>
>>30447865
Which barrel us or chf?
>>
>>30447894
Not the US made barrel is always better.
>>
>>30447894
Its the US 16.5 barrel
>>
>>30447865
If I was to get it I am also having a hard time deciding between the fixed stock and folded

I have one. Runs like a champ and is good quality. You might have to change grip and forend. Mine was plastic and look like it was ran through a woodchipper
>>
>>30448087
Thats good to hear. Not too worried about grips because they are cheapish. Im used to wood as my only other rifle is an SKS

Got MFT forend and magpul ak plus grip now.
>>
>>30448112
Tbh senpai, you cant beat this deal. Got mine $517 shipped w/$20 transfer.

Surpised more of /K/ doesnt own one. Its cheap and good.
Maybe because they think US barrels are shit and slavs are better at everything.
>>
>>30447865
>AMD
expect that fucker to be LOUD.
>>
>>30448146
Basically foreign barrels are better
>tho just my opinion
>>
>>30448242
One upside of the US barrel is that its 16.5 inches as opposed to the original 12 in slav barrel that would make it illegal to own with a folding stock
>>
>>30448190
I know it can be tiring but I love loud guns, I am excited and I am surely getting one this week
>>
>>30447865
You should have ordered one 2 weeks ago when they were just $500. Also my order from 2 weeks ago just shipped today so expect very long wait times.
>>
>>30448112
The problem is clearview investments will not release any real info about their barrels. Many have emailed and the only answer they get is " is proprietary". If this was a barrel made by green mtn, ak builder, etc they would sell boatloads. That means it's some bottom tier ess shit or even worse. The receiver, trunions, rivets , bolt and carrier are all combloc. It's too bad they disgrace this Slav shit with garbage us components.
>>
>>30448904
Its assumed to be shit, have you shot one? I own one and its like any other AK i have used..
>>
>>30447865
Pretty happy with mine. It goes boom and doesn't have a wiggle. You may need to tighten the grips though.
>>
>>30451547
Should also mention this thing is built tight as shit. No loose parts in my receiver

On the topic of is it worth it....

Have a guy a knew trying to sell guns to buy more guns. He's offering to sell me:

> Glock 22 (I'd offer $450)
> Jericho 941 40 S&W (I'd offer $400)
> Saiga 7.62x39 without pistol grip (I'd offer $550)
> Stainless steel Mini 14 w/hogue stock (I'd offer $600)

I'm not a big fan of the Saiga or Glock 22, I would love a Jericho but not in 40 S&W.

What do you guys think? Should I consider any of these? Probably won't get a good deal on them and I may be offering less than he wants.

pic semi related, not his Jericho but similar

Does it take standard akm stocks? also what about the handguard?
>>
>>30452649
I think so, I had to dremel some inside corners for my handgaurd to fit. and it takes regular akm stocks
>>
I bought my Amd65 when it was 499 from classic. I couldn't be happier at all. It's amazing. I took off the front forward pistol grip, and I will be putting on some other type of grip probably. I also changed my back pistol grip to I think the old Polish style. Forgot who it's from. It's my favorite gun of all time. Get it OP

I don't understand why people refuse to spend an extra $500 on something that they will likely have for the rest of their life.

Just buy an arsenal for fucks sake.
>>
>>30452991
AKs are supposed to be cheap. If an AK isn't cheap it defeats the whole fucking point.
>>
Dont you cant replace the handguard without out taking a file to it.

I think they look like shit with the 16" barrel, that being said, they are AMD-65's so they look like shit anyway. The folding stocks are worse than Romanian/Polish wire folders for cheek/chin weld.

>>30451791

I would not consider a single one of them.
>>
>>30453001

This.

Once you pass the $500-$600 range you might as well build an AR. Though this thread does make me want a goulash blaster.
>>
>>30452649
Stocks are standard, the lower handguard is standard, but it has a custom gas tube. You can mod it though to take standard upper handguards just takes a regular tube and some time.
>>
>>30447865
That's a very good price, quit wasting your time talking to children and go buy it.
>>
>>30447865
I got one a few months back when they were 499. Only issue I had was the hammer would hit the right side rail, not bad enough to make it jam but could here it tapping when it cycled so I just filed down the hammer on that side. Other than that it was well assembled. I recimend finding a high temp o ring for the brake mine had a decent amount of wobble but the o ring took care of it.
>>
>fixed stock, 16" barreled AMDs
Goddamn the AK scene must be total shit right now if these are serious options.
>>
>>30453706
Why all the hate? I quite like mine, she works great and you can't beat the price to quality ratio.
>>
OP here, I would get the wire stock if there was a fucking place to put my cheek while shooting.

Also I am hearing a lot of praise but I am still weighing my options. Are there any suggestions for similarly priced rifles?

>>30452991
As I am soon to be in College I cannot justify spending that kind of money right now and would like something that is useful and cost effective with ammo and whatnot.
>>
>some frankenstein parts kit build that takes an already ugly AK variant and makes it even uglier
>Mystery US barrel
Spend a bit more, get a WASR.
>>
>>30447865
hungarian is good shit, they are underpriced in the market in my opinion

>>30447949
folding stock is pretty uncomfortable without add ons
>>
>>30455810
Most common addon I've seen is the cheek riser, but that thing just digs into your cheek like a dull knife and makes shooting a literal pain. AMD side folder stocks are pretty much doomed to being shit.
>>
I've been wanting to get an AMD for a long time. They used to be $499 a few months ago.

From every youtube review I've seen, they're solid, but you'll always have people say that anything gun related made in the US is shit and slav is lord for some reason.

I'd pick one up if I hadn't just spent $1600 on building a new SPR, picking up a C308, and a pap m85, and putting a C93 on layaway.
>>
I only ever use Nvidia cards, myself.
>>
So fixed stock AMD 63 is better than folding stock AMD 65? Even if the stock on the 63 is American made?
>>
>>30462073
You can have it both ways I chopped up my replacement full stock so that I can reach the trigger while its folded

Got mine back in March. They went up almost 20 bucks since then..
>>
>>30453057
Thanks figured as much, I mean I'd like to help the guy out. But he isn't hurting for cash and he isn't exactly helping me out by giving me really good deals. So I'll probably tell him thanks but no thanks.

>A thousand times this.
The fact that they are concealing who made the barrel is a giant red flag.
While WASRs have gone up in price significantly, it still can't be beat as a proper entry level AK.
>>
>>30464191
Where can you get WASRs tho? I know atlantic is sold out

I would check Armslist for your area, and if you can't find one see if you can maybe find a good deal on a MAK-90. It's a milspec milled chinese gun but goes for around the same now just not as common right now.

>>

ill sell you my wasr

where you at
>>
>>30447865
They're OK rifles, but the furniture isn't that amazing, so you might want to pick up some classic styled AK furniture for it,a t least, whatever of that which might fit (stock and grip, lower handguard).

Other than that, there isn't anything mechanically or structurally wrong with them, they're probably a little better than a WASR in quality.

The handguard gets fucking hot when you shoot it, you really want to replace it with a wood or plastic one if the VFG doesn't suit you (many don't like it).

Other than that, I've heard of some people getting a sharp edge or two on the receiver, but if you notice that, literally just sand that edge down and it'll be fine.

>>30451791
I'd only consider the Mini if the serial number starts in the 580 range or later.

>>30453706
Don't see the problem famicom, get the loudener replaced with a flash hider, and fit some nice plain plastic furniture on the gun, and you've got yourself a sweet little carbine.
I suppose it's a bit pricier than it'd have to be.

Would be cool if they sold a stripped gun, without the furniture present at all, to save on cost, to make it cheaper, so people can buy it without paying for furniture they aren't using.
