Thinking about picking one of these up as a graduation present for myself? Any reason not to? They seem like awesome rifles
The whitest rifle from the whitest nation on earth
>>30442440
They shoot really great, but the disassembly is a pain in the ass, and they tend to run for a lot of money and shoot more expensive calibers. You would be happier getting a different battle rifle, unless you really want one of these.
Papal Swiss Guard's Gewehr 98.

Or a Luxembourg Model 1900 Mauser.
>>30442692
Papal guard would have their own crest stamped on the receiver yes?
>>30442627
I thought there was .30-06 conversions?
>>30442703
Yes.
I want nothing more than a private tour of their armoury.
It's one of the most extensive collections of arms in the world and covers everything from pikes and leather armour to plate carriers and assault rifles.
>>30442420
M24-R
>already have a deposit on one
>>30442844
30-06 versions tend to cost more than 8mm versions (I believe.) Both 8mm an 30-06 ammo is fairly "expensive" these days.
SVT40 that isn't $1500 and ill treated by some hick that shot corrosive through it.
Every gun sow where I see a SVT40. You can tell they shoot corrosive surplus through it and don't clean and oil it. I have to call them "fucking savages" before I walk away from the table.
>>30442880
I already shoot 8mm, and I'll probably end up reloading for it if I get one of these.
>>30442873
Neat, I wish I could have one.
>>30442880
More reloads for it than 8mm.
Considering it can handle .30-06, couldn't it take REAL FUCK'N NATO?
>>30442902
Argentine ones were rechambered for .308, but they are in high demand, and if any come up for sale, they disappear quickly.
>>30442894
SVT's are actually pretty shitty rifles. Same with G43's
>>30442902
I think they're a great buy, limited number and just great rifles.
Full deployment kits like pic related are going for $3600. Naked rifles (what I'm getting) can be had for $2200.
>not bad considering Remington whacked Uncle Sam north of $5,000.
It's interesting to consider modern milsurp, all this because Remington didn't want to see the rifles destroyed.
>>30442971
Durr forgot picture.
>>30442703
Only people who have actually been to their armory and handled an example could tell you. The Papal States' Army's Remington No.3 Rolling Blocks had the two-key crest of the Papacy on them, so maybe.
>>30442863
>It's one of the most extensive collections of arms in the world
Hardly; it's all stuff that was or still is in regular service with the Swiss Guards, whether relegated to ceremonial use like the armor and halberds or still practical like their Stgw.90s.
>pic related; Gew.98s are on lower level of circular center rack with Rolling Blocks above
>>30443034
That pic makes me need to go to confession for what I just did in my pants.
>>30442945
>SVT's are actually pretty shitty rifles.
Kek. No.
>>30442945
>SVT's are actually pretty shitty rifles
So "shitty" the Germans would proactively seek to use them
>>30443034
>tfw you will never get your hands on one of their roller blocks
tfw literally never ever
>>30443529
tfw literally never ever pt 2
>>30443542
tfw literally never ever pt 3
