Oh it would be a flying pirate ship. I'll even design my own variation on the skull and crossbones. it'll be equipped with a full loadout of .30 and .50 machine guns, however the interior will get a complete makeover. Leather seats, some nice carpet, a mini-bar, a hook below the tail for waterskiing, you name it. Hell, I'll even plaster the rear with a handful of tasteless bumper stickers.

Don't even bother playing jets, module grind is the most soul crushing aspect of the game.

Congratulations, here's your new fighter!

Or you can suffer through a hundred matches of getting your shit pushed in.

Thanks for the webms, good stuff. Is there a source? I really find this kind of footage interesting, if you can ignore the fact that you're watching people die who had no say in the war that they're fighting.

Judging by the quality of the footage,I'd say it's a documentary series called Apocalypse: The Second World War. The documentary is French, but there's an english version narrated by Martin Sheen.

IL-2 is super cheap on Good Old Games.com (I don't recommend steam). No grinding needed; all planes are automatically available from the beginning. You can just fuck about gettin gud in the QMB, and can even alter campaign files in the FMB. Go get it, niggas, it's great.

After that the Free French used P-40's, P-39's, P-47's and Spits.

>Only because they had the soviet union and most importantly, the US helping them

British technology was far in advance of both the US and USSR at the start of the war. The only reason the US drew level was because of the tizzard mission where the UK just gave away millions of hours of research in the hope that america could put its industry to use on these developments.

The UK could not afford to follow projects like 'Tube Alloys' due to the need for resources elsewhere, so it was merged with the US developments to become the Manhattan project.

Also, remember that British jet engines continued to be world leading right through the 60's. After a quiet period and many mergers RR still produce the best civilian aircraft engines. And sell a large number of MTU's.

>Shitfires

Why are you so upset

> lacked the range

Range for what? daylight bomber escort over Germany? That thing we discovered was not worth the returns and didn't do?

Is this meant to try and say that the P51 is somehow superior to the Spitfire just because it flies further?

>bombers were too fragile

Lancaster is probably the most structurally powerful aircraft of the war, hence having the highest payload of any WW2 bomber.

>ill protected for daylight raids

They were designed as night bombers, they did not need more guns.

Remember Albert Speer is on record multiple times saying that the RAF night bombing was what was crippling German industrial effort.

IIRC the RAF destroyed about half of German steel production in 1944 (200,000) tons.

109s of the same era were basically superior under speeds of 300kph and inferior over 400kph under 6.5km

F4Us have worse roll rate, armament, protection, and visability than a 190A of the era

D9 Is better in pretty much every way except climb rate until they got above 7.5km

The luftwaffe pilots would be mostly noobs with a few veterans sprinkled in by the time of the f4u's profileration and that would be the main deciding factor

The more I read about the P-47 the more I love it. The first time I saw one up close I thought "yeah it certainly looks like it's good for CAS, it's huge, looks sturdy but sluggish" but phew it was a hell of a fighter and a hell of a lot faster than it looks.

its high-altitude performance was equal to its smaller lighter opponents

plus there are accounts of it having a hundred bullet holes and still making it back to base.
