I dont serve on one, nor will i ever.

also it doesnt have tie interceptors or hunters or A-wings.

More realistic to the setting, the whole spine opening to a hangar is questionable, the drop-TIE racks on a ISD is superior for sortie rate purposes.

Its basically like america. Few regulations except on NYC-world.

in star wars there are places like Felucia and tattooine and kashyyk where just about everything has claws, venom, and rarely fucking force powers, so heavy firepower is a legitimate need.

The main battery is consisted of starboard/port hull guns. The elevation and depression of the guns are absolutely terrible for the actual size of the cannons, which are ground forces tier. You would have to aline the ship to a completely different axis to be able to flank the top and underside of enemy capital ships.

In Star Trek at least it's because they aren't primarily warships, they're exploratory vessels with warship capability. On the Defiant, it may still be the top deck but it isn't a big bubble on top like on most ships. Romulan ships have interior command centers. Klingon ships are a bridge, guns, and drives.

Actually the guide books to lore of star wars vehicles and weapons mentions that civilian ownership of blasters is strictly prohibited and even heavily regulated near the frontier worlds.

For example the E-11 blaster rifle/carbine that storm troopers used eas one of the most advanced, powerful, lightweight and compact blaster weapons ever made and were just over all superior to anything the rebels had. E-11 Blasters were never for commercial sale and exclusively produced for the Empire could only be accuired from stealing from Imperial Armory's bribing and smuggling cargo containers of them from corroupt Imperial officials or battlefield pick ups.

DH-17's were also an exclusive military blaster pistol/carbine , but were available to planetary defense forces, police and guard militia's in abundance and frontier mining companys, cargo haulers, security guard companys, and some private citizens could buy them with permits, same with the DL-44 which was more of a magnum revolver for explorers on harsh planets with hostile flora and fauna.

By the time of a New Hope, Blaster ownership is actually outright banned for civilians and the private sector harshly regulated in efforts to stop the rebellion from getting weapons easily.

Think of it as if we lived in a ban country like france where full auto MK-18's are banned for Civilian use and are only for french troops (E-11)

However, in light of terrorism and expanding colonies in africa, short barreled Ruger Mini-14's are used by police, private security, settlers and merchant marines. (DH-17)

In the recent Vader comics Geonosis was virtually uninhabited from sustained Imperial bombing. It's implied dirty bombs were used which sterilized the population. A year after Yavin there was only one insane queen left grafted to an automated battle droid replicator with her nest of "babies" standing guard.

Vader just detached the queen and took the machine off world.

Good post is good. Thumbs up.

Good post

However, it's still not impossible to own a weapon. Luke Skywalker (or maybe just Owen Lars) owned that long rifle he took with him when he was looking for R2-D2 (though they might have it since they're frontier farmers).
Also blaster ownership might depend on the time era. For example, in the Knights of the Old Republic games there are plenty of legal arms merchants, such as the one on Taris (which is under Sith occupation at the time mind you), and Adum Larp on Dantooine. Also Czerka legally sells blasters to civilians.
>>
>>30424755
Is being too sexy a flaw?
>>
>>30431837
Open arms ownership is likely dependent entirely on location. Nobody, even garrisoned troopers, seems to give a shit about everyone walking around armed on Tatooine. Even with restricted weapons like the DL-44, which was restricted because it can actually get through trooper armor. Hell, a Jedi sliced two guys up, and later two of Jabba's employees traded blaster fire at a table, and everyone just went back to business in the Cantina.

I could see them locking it down on Coruscant, or Alderaan, on the civilized core worlds. But I think in the Outer Rim even Imperials know it's better just to maintain a light touch than to start shit with everyone. It also helps keep the scum out in the Outer Rim.

Those shields were basically brand new when Reach fell, and the rest of the series really isn't over that long of a time span. Consider that you enter the universe at the tail end of a losing war, and humanity doesn't have all that many places left to build new R&D infrastructure. After the war ended, humanity had way more time and room to spend studying shit they picked up in the war. And capturing covenant equipment to even study was pretty difficult during the war.

Properly reverse engineered, took components and found how to best maximize their use as well as mate them to a ship before making their own. Infinity's shields are more advanced than any covenant ship's and its the only ship in the UNSC fleet utilizing forerunner tech derivatives. Which became awkward when the forerunner systems mated with a forerunner big bad.

It's difficult to imagine a regime like the Galactic Empire being lenient towards private citizens owning blasters. On the other hand, Luke mentions shooting womp rats for fun when he was growing up, and in Mos Eisley everyone and their mother is armed with something. So I figure that the amount of regulation on each particular planet directly correlates with the amount of Imperial presence on that planet; on a backwater world like Tattooine a gun wouldn't be too hard to come by, legally or otherwise.
>>
>>30434291
SPESS MUHREENS + the human population is somewhere in the quadrillions.
>>
>>30430112
To be fair, the Empire places the CIC on that exposed bridge. It's why the Executor got snackbar'd by a piloted missile after the shields were disabled.
>>
>>30434337
No, Arvel allahu ackbared into the bridge.
>>
>>30431837
I think Luke's rifle was a slugthrower, which aren't as heavily restricted.

It might have also helped that Tatooine was the ass end of nowhere and controlled by a mafia.
>>
>>30434076
It's because of Sargon that Ken's theme can be a bit "triggering", uses that particular version as his closer. Play that on some college campuses and you might start some shit, especially if the jackasses are "protesting" the flavor of the week.

SJWs do a lot of stupid stupid shit. They're a very loud and obnoxious group and legitimately the enemies of gun owners among many other groups (like real liberals), I'm actually kind of surprised anyone here would defend them.

>>30434337
Executors are also supposed to have a backup bridge and full retard strength shields. But then it would have been a whole lot less exciting had the ship just continued murderfucking rebels rather than nosediving into DS II.
>>
>>30428029

His was likely the same type the tuskens use, but better maintained.

Blaster ownership was much more controlled by the Empire but I don't remember anything outright banning it except planetary governments like Alderaan's do it themselves. Some worlds outright banned them, some worlds had the space equivalent of an AWB, some were giggle switch friendly. Outer rim generally gave no fucks what anyone thought, harsh and full of outlaws.

Legend of the Galactic Heroes.
>>
>>30434532
Not really, but it comes closer than most scifi. No magical FTL or gravity generators, no inertial dampeners, no shields. Ships are designed so that their acceleration will produce faux gravity, signals take time to get to destinations, and in general the laws of physics apply consistently.

Everything designed by humans seems pretty reasonable and I can't think of anything from the first two books (the one's I've actually ready) or the first season of the TV series that just shits allover the laws of physics or my suspension of disbelief like Trek or Star Wars.
>>
>>30434291
It ain't 80 percent.

Plus they counter it by literally having millions of planets and like billions of ships (not warships mind you which are only a fraction). Along with a regressing but still powerful industrial base of literally thousands of shipyard PLANETS.
>>
>>30435156

They also allow converts to worship the Emperor as long as they believe in the Greater Good.

Because logistics is not something they fully grasp.

The galactic empire on the other hand had a fucking god-tier logistics program.

>25,000 imperial star destroyers alone
>a whole wing of fighters each (~72)
>by our standards an enhanced mechanized division per isd with 9700 infantry, tanks, etc
> A premade garrison capable of deploying a brigade on a planet in a day
>precise, reliable, fast hyperdrive that can get virtually anywhere in the galaxy in a day or two
>a seemingly inexhaustible supply of corvettes, frigates, and other destroyers
>built a 120km planet killer in secret over 20 years, then a 900 km one in just about half a year for the DS2
>planets honeycombed with endless factories
>clone war surplus

Seriously, imperial logistics seem to be composed of "hey whered we put that last.. oh wait we have another one, never mind".

its literally as if we kept up ww2 level production into vietnam and we had so many tanks and helicopters we could outnumber the nva 10 tanks:1 guy
