I also could claim a possible third. There were two of us shooting back in Afghanistan (me and fire team buddy) and I saw the guy drop in unison with my shot. It seemed by the timing I was the one that hit him, but I don't know for sure. We are still friends and debate it.

The 3rd guy I shot from the bunker on our COP, nothing special, hit him with the M2 at about 200m.
4th was the same with a 249, about 100m, except me and my A gunner saw a tracer go through this fuckers head and he took about 3 more steps then kind of sat down. Didn't fall, just had a seat like he was tired. We both shot him about 20 more times just to make sure.

Germans killed 1 american for every 4 german present at omaha beach, their machine gunners were not the only ones there and apart from hollywood movies there is nothing to suggest that each machine gunner did god's work. Based on 85 nests and 35 pillboxes of which both probably had 2 MGs, lets say there was 155 static MG teams, that's 13 kills for each MG team if not a single other person killed any americans.
