Okay /K/, I'm having some issues with this Carcano I picked up. As you can see here, you cant chamber another round without the bolt stopping about a quarter of an inch away without a firm push. If you pull the bolt back from this, it double feeds, something that I thought was impossible for a manual action rifle. Does anyone know why or how this happens, or how to fix it?

That's another thing too, whenever I eject the last round the clip just sticks around in the rifle like a fly to shit. Do you have to insert the clip in a particular way?

said, or possibly the extractor isnt catching the extractor groove correctly.
take out the bolt and slide a cartridge under the extractor. if it feels like it doesnt want to fit, it might be the extractor. then put the bolt back into the rifle with the cartridge still under the extractor and see if it closes easily. if it does, its the extractor or the clips. if its still difficult to close, its the chamber.

no problem. i had a similar problem with a 1903 i bought a while back. a few passes over the extractor with a file and now its smoother than a freshly shaven cunt.

yeah, gnarly extractor, but everything else worked alright, clip gets a little sticky in the well but a shake usually fixes that

that i dont really know. i just did it little by little until the rounds fit without too much force. that might be a pain in the ass though because carcano extractors a re a bitch to put back in. start with whatever contacts the round first if thats what you decide to do.
i honestly dont know if its a safety hazard if you accidentally file too much. i would guess not because on rimless cartridges, the extractor doesnt have an affect on headspacing, but a more knowledgeable anon might know better.

It may be the clip. Make sure that you're pushing the rounds into the clip from the front and not from the top like you would a stripper clip. If you do that you'll mess up the clip.
Check the side of the extractor closest to the inside.
They have a tendency to roll over the edge as its forced iver a rim causing a burr to prevent proper feeding.
Might be worth it to pull it off and clean the gunk from under it also
