What else do I need to complete my late 80s Soviet Afghan 74 clone?

Also, how much per mag did you guys in that mag group buy pay? I don't *need* any more mags but it's an addiction.

Also again, what is my best bet for finding 74 mags with trench art? I just look through the Files and buy em when I find em when they're priced right. Those are my favorite mags. I've got two black (10)s with with some what I'm assuming is Bulgarian writing carved all over them and I've got five Russian plums with writing varying to pretty faint to really noticeable.

Does anybody have experience with the DDI AKL-47 Milled in particular?

This one (which I apparently can't order right now thanks to Omar Buttfuck)

https://www.atlanticfirearms.com/component/virtuemart/shipping-rifles/ddi-ak47-milled-detail.html?Itemid=0

Is this AK good quality? I've heard good things and I've heard bad things about DDI, so not entirely sure.

Or should I maybe shell out the extra $300 for an Arsenal SAM7 (even though I really want to avoid going over $1000)

I want something that will last me, not just for range sessions, but long term preparation as well, for SHTF scenarios.

Something that is solid as hell and can take a pounding.

Basically not just a rooty tooty point-n-shooty type for the occasional range (although for where I am now, that is all the treatment it may be getting).

>>
>>30384966
Well, call it a personal preference then.
>>
>>30384995
Why? Milled does absolutely nothing that stamped doesn't do. Both are equally reliable (if anything stamped is more reliable due to it flexing and while milled can get microfractures over time) and the literal only difference is milled is heavier and is significantly crippled when it comes to aftermarket because milled guns and stamped guns cannot accept the same furniture.

Shiny plum furniture was made and found on AKS74s from 1979/1980 to 1985 and matte plum furniture was made and found on AKS74s from 1985/1986 to 1990 when the Russians finally got around to black polymer furniture.

There's really no need for one, and due to the angle of the stock you're going to end up with a bit of cheek bite if you try to use the irons. Up to the user, I just prefer it since I'm going to be using optics. If I need to, the PKA-V I have gives a lower 1/3rd cowitness if need be anyhow.

By the mid-late 80s they were issuing plum AKS74s along with the traditional wood with bakelite grips. The later in the war you look the more frequently they popped up.

>Most Russo-Afgan pics I have seen of trianglefolders have blonde laminated bulged wood handguards.
There are plenty of photos out there of plum furniture in the conflict.

Keep in mind that the Soviet Afghan War was ten years long from 1979 to 1989, with plum furniture really only making it's way in the scene in the final four years of the war.

Plus, the cool thing about mimicking a late 80s AKS74 is that they were also common in the first Chechen War.

Kit without receiver or barrel: $600-$800
Kit with barrel: $1000+

There's a matching 83 kit with barrel on AKfiles right now for $1400 I believe.

That isn't including the cost of a receiver and the cost to pay someone to build it for you unless you already have the knowledge and tools ($500 in tools) to build it yourself.

They were all me. I answered your questions regarding building, but like I said 9/10 of the people here don't understand building AKs and after asking about it they get squeamish when they realize what goes into it, so I suggested an SLR104 with period correct furniture because I figured you were, like I said, one of the 9/10 of people here who dont get building AKs and that would be an easy-tier close enough looking rifle for those who don't want to deal with building or the wait of waiting for it to be built.

If you're willing to have it built then go for it, there's nothing sexier than a genuine Soviet mid war AKS74. My only concern would be getting the new recover to match the finish wear on the rest of the parts but there are some true artists out there who can match the wear surprisingly well.

Do SLR-107's (or 104's and 106's) come with wood furniture at all that isn't aftermarket?

I really, really like those but I'm not fond on the polymer furniture and would most likely prefer wood if possible.

If so, I'd completely be willing to shell out an extra three hundred dollars to get one, otherwise I don't feel like paying $1200-$1300 for one where I don't even like the furniture look.
>>
>>30393806
No you'll have to sell what's on it and replace it. Also I'm not sure how much you understand about the stock system but you won't be able to put a wooden buttstock on them. You can use a triangle folder though, to keep it fully wood&steel.

650 for a Wasr or a Wasr-2? Just asking because it's rare you even see a Wasr-2 for sale

I wanna recommend the Wasr-2 just because it's more practical but the M92 really has a better track record going for it. I guess the M92 with the pistol brace would still be fairly practical. I'm biased because I really just haven't come around to the idea of pistol braces yet.

Sounds like the shit they were trying to spout while they had the "Museum Grade" debacle.

I've had dozens of packages of mags from all over including Russia.
All arrived after going through customs, some even opened by customs.

Incomplete mags do not constitute a whole, and they can't do shit faggot.

You can also legally recieve parts and firearm components as long as the value is under $100, and with the ruble in the toilet that's a more than a few mags.

>All my mag bodies were $3 declared value. As were the seperate packages of springs and floorplates.

Enjoy being cucked by the gayTF.
>>
>>30396684

Wrong on all counts, magazine bodies, springs, floor plates. All are implements of war for a firearm not approved for import on the voluntary restraint agreement.

Just because a package went through customs doesnt meet it's inspected, the ones you claim were opening I would say the employee was either lazy, or didn't know what it was thankfully.

Best case is they send you a letter saying not to do it again, worst case they show up at your door and slap the cuffs on for felony charges.
>>
>>30396729

>>

>Wrong on all counts, magazine bodies, springs, floor plates. All are implements of war for a firearm not approved for import on the voluntary restraint agreement.

Mind posting some source on that claim.

Because nothing on the ATFs site makes that claim.

>List firearm component parts, (which do not include a firearm frame or receiver) under the Implement of War (IOW) category. IOWs include magazines, grips, barrels, mounts, scopes, and night visions, etc.

As I stated, parts of mags do not constitute a whole, and therefore are not pursuant to IOW guidelines.

Furthermore
>ATF Form 6 Parts I, II, 6NIA & 6A Exemptions

>Minor components and parts for Category I(a) and I(b) firearms except barrels, cylinders, receivers (frames) or complete breech mechanisms, when the total value does not exceed $100 wholesale in any single transaction.

And since you were talking about that guy's slings

>Firearm accessories such as gun cases, slings, and cleaning kits
>>
>>30396881
There's not a specific list, read the ATF form 6. Any minor component is allowed and "parts of category I(a) firearms, except barrels, receivers, cylinders, and complete breech mechanisms" can be imported so long as the total wholesale value does not exceed 100 dollars

HELP, QUICK

I'm SBR'ing my SLR-107UR. Which manufacturer do I choose?
>>
>>30400223
arsenal inc
>>
>>30400223
Arsenal Inc. is Arsenal Las Vegas, Arsenal Co. is Arsenal Bulgaria

I'd go with Arsenal Co as the rifle was made there while Arsenal Inc merely imported it and added the necessary 922r parts/made it US legal
>>
>>30400223
What your gun says dufus, Arsenal USA

>>
>>30393365
That's what I did. Bought one, fired 60 rounds, saw the internal wear, sold it for what I paid to some figgit on armslist.

The old grips were gray surplus. The wood grips are thicker and feel better.
>>
>>30399732
Precisely. Didn't get it from online though.
>>30399799
There's several reviews on AKFiles. MAC used to have one video up with glowing reviews but he took it down for some reason. I'm going to shoot tomorrow, I'll post here or in next /akg/ on my findings.

>>30399782
Forgot to respond to this one, but it's gray parkerized. A lot of people hate it but I actually like the light gray color.
