You're in America bro, you can find any part you want to a reasonable price. The only people I would recommend a pre-built to are people who don't have access to American parts or have to pay up the ass for import fees (e.g., a Canuck like me). If you insist on pre-builts, I recommend the Windham Weaponry MPC-15, DPMS Oracle or any no-frills AR-15 from a reputable company to start. There's plenty of room to grow into aftermarket parts such as a BCG, barrel, trigger, and free float rail as you get more experienced with your AR.

I'm an AR virgin gonna pop my cherry. I work at a pawn shop. We've got a few for sale that I can get a good deal on. Which one has my name on it? Here's the choices:
1. Basic bitch Ruger AR-556
2. Basic bitch DPMS
3. Core-15, medium/heavy stainless 18" or 20" barrel, mid-length gas system, free-float MLOK(?) fore end, Magpul furniture, and a cheap-ass BSA 1-4x power scope. I think it might have a Giselle trigger.
4. Homebuild on a Spike's Tactical lower, 16" Double Star (DSC) heavy stainless barrel, free-float quad-rail fore end, DSC Dragon muzzle break, DSC ambidextrous charging handle, angled forward grip
5. The gunsmith special: a homebuild on a Surplus Arms & Ammo lower, what looks like a mil-spec basic barrel, Knight's Armament quad rail fore end (not free floated and it rattles), and an *empty* upper. It needs a BCG and a charging handle.
Basically the gunsmith special, finished, and the basic bitches would be basically the same guns at the same prices all around. The Spike's would be a little more, and the Core a little more than that. I don't mind paying a little more for a nicer AR.
Initially I loved the Core, but it's not shining for me. It's loose as your mom. We crammed an Accu-Wedge in there an now it's so damn tight you need a punch and a mallet to open it up. It's a little... eh.
Honestly I'm really attracted to the Spike's, I like the heavy stainless barrel, I like the free float fore end, those are the most important features to me. It's got pretty basic furnitureaside from the fore end, which I actually like. It's a carbine gas system, which maybe a middy would be better, but no biggie. 16" seems like a good "do all" length... I'm liking it... But I wanted to get an outside opinion.

Possibly might look at usp in 45 but I doubt it's going to be in price range. My dillema right now is I'd rather wait on the rifle until I have more money and get the handgun right now, but it appears if I wait it won't be possible to get the rifle whereas it might be possible to get the handgun.
I also need a handgun for CC but I don't want to get that yet as I plan on saving for a sig Sauer p938 for that. So I want to get my full frame first.
For reference I currently own only a shotgun though I have operated many firearms with family and friends.

Im undecided between a sig320 45 compact, and a glock 19 gen 4. Been racking my brain over it since february.
Some background; i can get the mil/leo discount for either, so that particular pricepoint doesnt bother me. Sig is 480~ with night sights, glock is 450~ with night sights. I will be carrying this. I have been switching back and forth between xds, mod2, p64, ppk, and dislike subcompact. So i would like to move up in size.
My back and forth is, sig mags are retarded expensive, plus only 9rnds, and iwb holster selection is limited atm. And the positives are its in 45, the grip is excellent, and trigger is great.
Glock 19 negatives are the trigger, and grip feels inherintly odd to me everytime i pick one up, the most comfortable grip for me is with no backstrap(hence the gen4). I have tried the custom glocks and liked the timberwolf grip but cant justify spending 700+ for a glock. Positives are the cheap mags and plethora of iwb holsters.
Why i chose these two instead of lets say an m&p or a walther is that I naturally shoot these particular two better. Ive tried many others.
Any advice is welcome, it also helps me think clearer to type this out. Ya i know youre probably saying, 45 vs 9, why arent you doing 9 for both or 45? Idfk, i just know that if i were gonna get a glock it would be in 9, and if i were gonna get a sig320 i want it in 45. The only certain thing is i want a compact. Honestly i might just end up buying both eventually.
