Thoughts? Seems to be made by a small no-name company. All the reviews I can find on their site and gunbroker say they make a great rifle at a bargain though.

I like the A2 grip.

Keymod is superior to MLOK simply because it's harder to machine square holes. Also, installation is easier.

The cable management is of course shitty, but it hasn't interfered yet.

"pistol" because over 26 inches, foregrip included

nothing wrong with magpul 40s

my TRS-25 isn't bright enough to use in summer daylight, no one told me that.

Believe it or not, anti-rotation pins are important to me.

Better triggers come with better pins, if your using plain Jane trigger, yeah, cool. VFG on a pistol is illegal. 40 round mags throw the balance off, can take up too much space on gear. Trs25 is trash, mind you the one optic I own that is under $1000 is an aimpoint. Mlok isn't truly square, and you can cast the holes.

She's your baby, you love her. It's honestly not that bad a rig. But calling it perfect, idk. For a budget build its probably as close to as your going to get. I'm looking at dropping $2500 before tax stamps, optics, accessories, etc.

"What is it like to fire an AR-15? It’s horrifying, menacing and very very loud.

It felt to me like a bazooka — and sounded like a cannon.

But mostly, I was just terrified.

Squeeze lightly on the trigger and the resulting explosion of firepower is humbling and deafening (even with ear protection).

The recoil bruised my shoulder, which can happen if you don't know what you're doing. The brass shell casings disoriented me as they flew past my face. The smell of sulfur and destruction made me sick. The explosions — loud like a bomb — gave me a temporary form of PTSD. For at least an hour after firing the gun just a few times, I was anxious and irritable."

What are the options to mount a scope on a FAL that don't require a railed dust cover? I don't like the looks of rails, and am hoping for something that mounts directly to the dust cover.

I know of the L2A2 SUIT, but does that work on a metric FAL? Either way, I'm looking for more options. Hopefully you guys can help.

The love of my life. Why would you need any other battle rifle? This thing is gorgeous
>>
>>30376082
It's partially personal preference. Partially dick size (you can't shoot a mean ass 7.62 NATO unless you got an above average want). And partially strategy.

I, for one, have friends with no magazine sharing ability (for rifles) among us. One has an AK, the ather has an AR-15. Therefore, I needed to have the DMR amongst us, so I chose an AR10.

Also, I believe that if you're forced to have a semi-auto, you might as well have a large caliber, but a gun is better than no gun.

Hell no.

I love them to death, but they're typically heavier, have limited capacity, have more stout recoil, the list goes on. For most -but obviously not all- people, those are adequate reasons to abandon 7.62x51 for a poodle shooter.

As a masochist, I sometimes forget about how bad the recoil is on battle rifles compared to AR's.... He's probably right, but battle rifles are cooler. And they um.... have more... um... bigger. bigger boom boom. bigger bullet thingy. more stuff stuff. if you want a hole in paper thats bigger, you get a bigger bullet.

Seriously, 5.56 will do fine. 7.62 might have some better range, but it really is a lot more difficult to keep on target, and the ammo is obviously heavier. As I said her

>>30376196
It's important to have a battle rifle fit in and around assault rifles, IMO.
>>
>>30372517
FULL-SIZED CARTRIDGES ONLY
>>
>>30376303
This reminds me of another great reason to have a battle rifle over an intermediate cartridge.

(sorry for long link)
https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=1&ved=0ahUKEwi_lr2vwr3NAhVJ7oMKHdYsC-QQFggeMAA&url=http%3A%2F%2Fsmallwarsjournal.com%2Fdocuments%2Frhodesian-cover-or-drake-shooting.pdf&usg=AFQjCNF9ngfmoK5oUEI8NvIAeJJ7kJHzPQ&cad=rja

Basically back in the Rhodesian War, the main strategy was to run through the jungle and shoot anywhere where a rebel might be hiding. This works much better for a full sized cartridge than a wimpy poodle shooter. (it also doesn't work very well unless there's a high likelihood of unwanteds behind the cover and a very low likelihood of innocents)

For any serious use a battle rifle is shit. They are not particularly accurate which limits their effective range to that of an assault rifle (around 400 yards). Inside of that range an assault rifle will have plenty of power to reliably kill a human, and will also be a lot more mobile and quicker due to the lighter weight and recoil, and oh yeah they also hold 30 rounds. For anything past the effective range of a battle rifle or assault rifle you will want a scoped rifle purpose built for accuracy. That being said battle rifles are fun as fuck to shoot, and are certainly fun range toys
>>
>>30376082
Like everything, it depends on the application. 7.62 NATO is a killer, accurate and barrier-defeating. Unfortunately, the amount of barrel it needs to definitively outclass 7.62x39 means these battle rifles are heavier and a little more unwieldy indoors. Additionally, as these rifles have gone out of favor with the military, they aren't compatible with popular attachment methods used by white and IR lights or even scopes and red dots.

You're talking about the correlation between bullet weight and ballistic coefficient. As weight goes up, the BC generally improves IF you're talking about the same bore diameter.

But BC is literally only relevant to retaining energy at range. Velocity only matters insomuch as it contributes energy. Drop can be compensated for rather easily, which is why people can shoot x51 at 1000+ yards even though it drops like a rock.

And if you're that worried about BC in the first place you're better off with x51 because it allows for a much greater range of projectile length and there are more bullet options.

None of this shit even becomes relevant until 300m+ anyway, and if you're shooting at those ranges you shouldn't even be considering a 7.62x39.

read that link above.
The Rhoadies liked to "kill" cover by firing low (kicking up rocks and skipping rounds through cover) and they would shoot through tree trunks too.

7.62 long would zip through the tree trunks where 7.62 short would not. Obviously a poodle shooter wouldn't zip through a hot elephant turd.

I'll take the weight penalty and fewer rounds for the ability to shoot through cover.

>It's another outdated rifles with no ideal place in the modern world thread.

Even bolt actions are more relevant. Why do you cling to the past? Battle rifles belong in the bin with SMGs, trench shotguns, and bolt action carbines.

>Pistols
>SBRs
>"Assault Rifles"
>DMRs
>Long range precision bolt actions.

These are the only relevant classes of firearm in 2016. Anything else is either for nostalgia, for fun, or sub optimal.

If your going so short on a barrel in .308, you should consider x39 for even shittier ballistics?

If you mean for military use, your kind of correct. But your forgetting belt fed toys, grenade launchers, light mortars. But pistols aren't relevant for military use.

But I'm not in the military.

Belgium, America, Germany, you know. The usual suspects. They aren't the primary service rifles anymore, but they still fill necessary roles.

Have a faaru-chan. Maybe it'll make you less mad.
>>
>>30382347
Battle rifles are handy for those of us who aren't in a military, but still want to have the capability to take down man sized targets within 300m and behind cover. Yes that is niche. Yes, you can avoid posting in threads about things you don't like.

Also SMGs are good for security detail (i.e. VIP protection)

Handgun exhibit rather dismal terminal ballistics
Carbine rounds are better suited. And since 9mm rounds essentially weigh the same as 5.56 rounds your not sacrificing there either.

Probably used and not refurbished.

Just get a PVS14, mount it on a helmet on your non dominant eye and use a red dot
>>
>>30384523
The one I'm looking at (Z-51) is 2+, refurbished, brand new tubes and mount installed.
I'm looking at the PVS-4 as well, was watching a video of it and its very pretty, and there are even enhancements to bring it to gen 3.
I kind of have a hardon for early night vision scopes.

You could always order from PTR directly. That's what I did. It took a little longer and it was a bit more expensive but I had no idea when Atlantic was going to start selling the GI models without the rail and it's nice to support a more local company.
