Lets talk about 25/300 and 50/200 yard zeros or their equivalent for each caliber.

I have my ar's zeroed like this but im not sure what my other calibers would be. Does anyone have a handy dandy info sheet?

What range do you prefer to zero your rifles?

I zero at 100y or 50y. I like the 100y because you don't ever have hold unders just hold overs.

why even have a rifle?

I never said I don't shoot past 100y, I zero at 100y.

The idea of 25/300m and 50/200y zeros for 5.56 are just simplified versions of what a hunter may do to calculate their point blank range.

You can do this for any caliber, load, and specific rifle you want as long as you have some core data on hand. Just decide on how large of a target area you are comfortable using.

Basically,

I'm assuming he doesn't have a large enough range near him, doesn't have a high powered scope, or just prefers zeroing at 100yds

100y zero makes sense if you are dialing. With the bullet only coming up to kiss the sightline then everything is a hold-over or dial up inside and outside of 100y.

Might want to work on your reading comprehension. Anon said he likes a 100 yard zero because you only need hold overs, implying he shoots past 100 yards. With a 200 or 300 yard zero you would need hold unders at closer ranges.

The 25/300 yard zero ONLY works for 5.56 from a 20 inch barrel.

If you want to zero a 14.5 in barrel (Presumably with applicable tax forms and/or permanently affixed muzzle device) at 25 yards, it will be zeroed at around 350 yards (The white line).

What about 16 in barrels?

(noob trying to build my first AR because i know trump with lead to a slaughter in the upcoming senate races.)

Technically, it will work for any bullet with a similar muzzle velocity and sectional density.

I zero my AKs at 21m with the rear sight leaf set at 300m. At 100m it seems to be close enough, but I suck dick with those iron sights so I might as well be pissing money into the wind when I try to reach out to any appreciable distance with those rifles.

AK is 25 and 100

100yrd zero will get you hits on a torso from point blank to 300 with nothing but point and click. It is the right one to use. 2 inch low at muzzle, 1 at 50, 0at 100...
