Do you think that North Korea would ever actually start a war? Or will they always bluff like they do now? I'd find it hard to believe that top North Klorleajanan officials aren't already aware of the fact that any all out conflict would be a disaster due to their outdated military hardware and lack of any ability to manufacture hardware in any meaningful way.
>>
Maybe as a last ditch effort if things were going badly for the government.

Nork officials are painfully aware of their tenuous position on the world stage, but they're caught between a rock and a hard place. If they warm to the west, China (who like having them there as a buffer to the west) will shit on them from a great height and their own population (who have been told for half a century that the west is Satan) will probably revolt and depose them. On the other hand, if they are too aggressive to the west, they get holocausted.

short answer, no

long answer, no

They'll eventually piss off the Japanese with something stupid like the Dokdo islands, or a missile test that hits the mainland.

But I'm surprised they haven't demanded reparations from the Japanese over the comfort women. For the South, its been a huge battle.

No they won't. West doesn't want to deal with all the refugees, that's why they haven't been 'liberated' yet

Why do you always assume that "evildoer #9123" will start a war, if the last couple of decades actually show that it is the US/West, who start wars all day every day?

>inb4 commie git out

Truth hurts.

last time I checked the Korean War was started by the North anon

Ukraine.
>>
No but they have to pretend like they will.
The North Korean leadership tell their people that they are at war and that's why their country is shit.
The reason North Koreans put up the conditions of their country is because they think they are under siege and it is their duty to defend their country.
If North Korea would be at peace there is no excuse to suck that much as a country.
>>
>>30365724
Because no one would ever actively fund the Nork regime for any reason, at least in the west.

Chechyna, Georgia, Ukraine.

Actually it has been started by US who have invaded the southern half of the country at the end of WW2

Honestly the "Chinese buffer state" thing is wearing colossally thin. From a sheer economical standpoint China has more to lose from being forced to enter a war on the side of NK against the USA, than to stay neutral guard it's borders, and let the peninsula be re-unified.

Hell within 10-20 years of decent political and economic policy a unified Korean Peninsula might be a better buffer state than NK ever was. Once the peninsula is reunified Korea itself might start questioning the necessity of it's closeness to the USA, without the constant threat of NK.

The buffer state thing, made sense up until the last 20 years or so but china's become far far greater alone than in union with Korea. Economics, and the modernization of the Chinese Navy means that the ocean will likely be where the decisive conflicts of south east asia will be fought, rather than through korea.

>invaded
The North Korean Chimp Out surprised even Uncle Joe. Without that war, the Koreas would have been reunited like Germany almost 30 years ago

This

It may be an overstatement to say the PRC is all good buddies with the US and SK now, but they're much more eye to eye than they were when the Kims were first put in power and they have important economic ties to both of those states. Meanwhile, the Norks are more and more of an embarrassment and headache to China.

It wasn't out of the blue that that leak of internal Chinese memos favored reintegration of Korea under Seoul's rule.
>>
>>30368282
This. Even now China and SK get along pretty well, even better than with NK in some ways. China isn't ideologically communist at all any more so it's far more interesting to them to trade with a rich capitalist South Korea, who also happens to hate Japan.

>>30368359
I think it's pride. China doesn't want to admit that they made a poor choice in ally, so they stubbornly stand up for NK whenever the UN comes knocking.
>>
NK vs SK/US would be like Israel vs. Hezbollah. Mass attacks on civilian targets to try while fighting asymmetrically in your own territory to try and force the militarily superior side to settle on beneficial terms
>>
>>30368576
That's plain wrong. The Norks couldn't wage a guerilla war, the ROK Army would seize or destroy all KPA sources of food and supplies.
>>
>>30365110

Norks have actually been spouting anti-Chinese propaganda for a couple years now
>>
>>30368410
No, it was a good idea in the 50s for them to back North Korea, the political climate has simply changed and reunification is an incredibly lengthy and costly process that even if offered, the South would have a hard time dealing with it.
>>
>>30365110
The buffer state thing is nonsense, especially in 2016. China doesn't doesn't want to deal with the aftermath of a war with DPRK and neither does the west.

No one wants to touch that shit, and both sides hope everyone inside the DPRK would just die.
>>
>>30368356
Of course they would be in favor of it. South Korea would have a huge financial drain trying to train uneducated and starving peasants into the modern workforce. They would also have to take care of them as well.

This would let China have a huge advantage in the technology sector.
>>
>>30365069
North Korea will never go to war because they know the West would just crumble under the Dear Leaders power and he takes pity on them.
The west has nothing of value to the Great Leader and they live in lands barely able to sustain them.
>>
>>30365132
I wonder what the FAA would say if I tried to teach flight students that way?
Also: Fucking kek
>>
>>30365069

I'm pretty sure the North Korean's aren't actually as delusional as they act and are well aware of their standing.

And if they go to war they'll get wiped out. South Korea might take some damage but they'll lose.

And god forbid if they use Nukes or bio weapons of anything like that it's doubly over because then the US will just glass the entire country and kill everyone in it and nobody will question it because they used forbidden weapons.
