It's a semi-auto 5.56/.223 rifle with aluminum receivers, same charging method, forward assist is the same fuckin thing but looks different, brass deflector, ejection port dust cover, thumb safety, pistol grip, oh look... the magazine release is a FUN COOL SHAPE. Welp guess it's not an AR-15 anymore! omg so different completely different gun.
It needs a different BCG because of the piston operation to avoid carrier tilt and wear that the ORIGINAL AR PLATFORM IT'S BASED OFF OF wasn't initially designed for. Same as any other piston AR.
Just because Sig has a cute name and some fun aesthetic elements doesn't mean it's not just an AR with a piston system instead of a DI. If you made a DI AK with some cutesy fun designs on it then would you call it a DI AK or an XCB ULTRA 5000?

Nigger the operating mechanism is different, that's why it isn't a fucking AR-15. There is no parts commonality for any of the functioning parts of the action. It's an AR-18 dressed up like an AR-15, it's an AR-15 in the same way the SCAR is an AR-15.
Did you guys know you can stick an MCX upper on like any AR-15 lower? Runs just fine too but your buffer tube might get bullied.
