My biggest pet peeve is just when games present weapons that probably or certainly cannot function mechanically.

Bolt without enough room to travel backwards, no way for rounds to properly move from magazine to chamber, ejection port seriously out of line with the barrel and so forth.

I love playing Fallout, the fact that every reload included a cocking animation regardless of the actual state of the magazine never bothered me very much, but the absurd design of the combat shotgun bothered me so much I eventually made a mod to mostly fix it, pic related.

Most military related shit. No radio discipline, shitty unorganized call signs with random numbers, disregard for standard operating procedure, uniform inaccuracies, the list goes on.

Jarhead 2 was fucking awful. One thing that got me the most was a 2 gun truck 2 5 ton truck convoy, that the cargo trucks were convoy lead and trail, with the Humvees in the middle. Little shit like that.

Manual install, back up the old files before overwriting, just in case.

It's intended to work with Tales of Two Wastelands rather than vanilla Fallout 3, but it will probably work with mods that add the shotty into New Vegas.

Mind you it's chambered in 20 gauge now to give that shell a little more use into the late game, you can change that in the GECK easy enough if you dislike it.

Retexture projects and updates add so much to that game.

Oh, okay. The idea was to make the F3 shotty look more like the F4 one anyway.

I didn't make the model mind you, just implemented it to replace all the vanilla combat shotguns and made them on par with the riot shotgun while using a different shell.

I know there's a lot of unrealistic issues in Fallout, but it doesn't bother me there so much. I don't mind that .45 ACP is shown being more powerful than 10mm because it makes sense gameplay wise and the 1911 is very satisfying and fun to use there, it's just a damn fun game and it's unrealistic enough that it doesn't bother me.

That said I love how I've been able to mod in tons and tons of real life guns and use CaliberX to give them proper ammunition, varies up gameplay too, having to switch from an AK back to an AR because I'm out of 7.52x39R.

It's when a game is trying to sell itself as being realistic but fails miserably that I get upset about stuff like that.

The "silencers reduce muzzle velocity" meme. There were some rifles in Planetside 2 that felt like paintball guns if you put a silencer on them.

CoD games are never supposed to be realistic, the devs themselves have said as much.

They wear the veneer of reality but are intended to feel like over the top action movies or spy thrillers rather than representing true reality in any way.

The feel and stories of CoD are by far the best thing about the series, far above the way the gameplay and especially multiplayer is designed, hell I've defended the Modern Warfare story for having a lot more meat on it than some give it credit for.

Fallout guns are designed more around gameplay balance and availability rather than realism, like the .45/10mm thing, and New Vegas is pretty good for the most part, knowing my way around a 9mm handgun was all it took for me to get a long way into the game without much issue.

I'm not saying that dickwad, I'm saying the level of stupidity and autism on /k/ is /b/ tier and clearly indicates how summer it is.
>>

Red Orchestra is really nice about this

>fire once

>have to put two rounds into the clippazine because bolting took a second round out
>>
>>30356102
Summer means that school is out and all the kiddies have come to shit up the chans instead of being in class where they shit up the Internet less for some unknown arbitrary reason like not wanting their phones confiscated since 4Chan and reddit are blocked on school networks
>>
>>30356104
I can't get upset about CoD's gun selection or placement or time periods.

It's a juvenile romp through over the top campy set pieces and is trying to be fun rather than any kind of realistic.

How can I get mad about that, I can't take it seriously enough to get worked up.

There are parts of it that are fucking insidious and hateful but not that.
>>
>>30356116
I'd love a game where reloading a bolt action like that has the shooter cover the bolt with his hand to catch the extracted round.
>>
>>30356120
In case yall missed that I'm hinting that they're not using their phones as much to prevent confiscation by teachers and not using school computers for it since websense blocks that shit

This is about ALL weapons errors. Of course a TOW would wreck a rocket, but the rocket exhaust should wreck the TOW as well. It was probably mean as an anti frustration feature.

>>30355771
True. I've actually enjoyed them all except BO3. I revised MW2 with a plot outline a while back. It would focus more on the buildup for the invasion early on, and explain all the unexplained shit from the game proper. Like investigating ship smuggling activity in Rio, explaining how Russia snuck a division of polite tourists onto the east coast (instead of "find the shell, herpderp"). Or rescuing a CIA operative in VA, with him explaining that a recon satellite was sabotaged (instead of just hurr Burger Town).
>>
>>30356116
Also, you keep partially used mags. When you reload, you are given an estimate of how much ammo is in the mag, like "Magazine feels very light" means it's almost empty.
>>
>>30355329
You're still fucking bad. Shit kids call you a cheater for smacking them with the easiest guns in the game because they're even worse than you are already.
>>
>>30356182
CoD MW series take on blind fanatical nationalism is actually pretty impressive, it's not a terribly deep story but there's more to it than just dump shooty excuse fights in my opinion, MW2 especially actually has a number of themes that tie together across the story about revenge and nationalistic fervor.
>>
>>30356122
It just sad for a series that began by attempting realism & letting you be part of history suddenly dropping it in favor of becoming an action movie.
>>
>>30356120
>Summer means that school is out

Correct.

>all the kiddies have come to shit up the chans

Which is false.

The traffic doesn't change significantly during summer. Moot said this repeatedly over the years.

Is this literally your first day here? I suggest you stick to shitposting on /b/ if this is the level of discourse you're prepared to bring to my board.
>>
>>30356266
Moot said the numbers don't change. He didn't say anything about the demographics.
>>
>>30356293

This is some liberal-tier thinking right now.

It's your assertion that millions of schoolchildren are let out for the summer and then invade the boards, shitting up otherwise perfectly civil and rational discussions, but this is completely undetectable because all of the adults simultaneously stop doing the exact same thing?

Get the fuck outta here.
>>
>>30356317
Adults leave to go do yardwork or outdoor recreation.

It doesn't need to be millions, a few thousand would do it. Maybe even less.

that only applies to a small number of integrally suppressed guns (MP5SD most notably)
on basically any other gun, suppressors actually increase velocity

the gas pressure is lower in the suppressor, but there is still gas pressure, so the suppressor acts like a short length of (less efficient) barrel

CoD gameplay is based around the concept of giving unskilled 14 year olds the illusion of being pro gamers by making all the weapons samey and shrinking the skill gap.

Read an article about devs from another shooter, a more grittily realistic WWII game (forget which) who just blew up at their focus testers because they had all been 'ruined' by CoD because they had no skill whatsoever, but were convinced that them having trouble playing was the game's fault because they were really good at CoD.

Shotguns in CoD are designed to only have two settings, instakill boom-tubes or completely useless, because if there was nuance or balance to how they worked it would make the gameplay more than a slot machine random chance to see who killed who.

Instead it may as well automatically award the kill to whoever happened to see the other first at optimum range, ensuring that no matter how poor a planner or shot you are, you'll still get kills because someone with an AR walked around the corner into your shotgun, or you spied a shotgun user outside his effective range and just win.

So no, this is not due to ignorance or accident, this is deliberate game design.

>>
>>30359922
I don't see how anyone can get upset about that though.

Guns in Borderlands are clearly intended to have absurd designs and striking visual aesthetics over any kind of realistic design.

One of my favorite rifle was a wood stocked bolt action sniper that had all the rounds mounted in some triangular block of metal that would twist all over the place as you cycled it.

It's like watching superman and getting upset that they didn't portray the sonic boom exactly right, but not questioning the reality of him flying in the first place. How can you take it seriously enough to get upset about it?

I recommend looking into some mods, try the vanilla game a bit first then look into something to upgrade it a bit. I personally use the Super Modpack, adds a bunch of guns, replaces all vanilla guns with realistic and properly animated models and improves the graphics.

There is much arguing about what mod is best but this is the only one I've used, would recommend.
