Here are the particulars:
DATE: January 30th-31st, 2016
TIME: 7:30 AM
ADDRESS: 46378 W Panoche Rd, Firebaugh, in the Subway parking lot.
I don't expect everyone to get up early enough to be there at 7 AM, but we need folks in the area to show up early to claim the area from normies.
DIRECTIONS TO THE SPOT: Drive down W Panoche Rd, past the Subway where we're meeting. Continue down until the road ends. (It turns into private property, there are buildings around.) Turn left onto Panoche Rd proper. Continue driving until you spot a group shooting off the road to your left behind a fence.
BULLSHIT: Tannerite and lead ammo are okay. CLAYS ARE A NO-GO. The ranger that showed up last meet told us about the restriction that would come into place 2016, no more clays. A Sherrif is known to happen by to check on folks shooting, standard cap mags should be fine but make sure your shit is legal.
WHAT TO BRING: Chairs, Tables, Music, Food. AND TENTS! I still have the burn permit, so grilling/campfire is still a possibility. It will be a LOT easier to set up in this spot compared to hiking everything up and down the hill at the last spot.

Looking at buying plates. AR500 has level IV for $150. Anyone have experience with them? I'd also like to have a vest I can wear under a jacket. Does anyone know how much those cost/how effective they are?

Id never been to a cali gunshow before this one and it was decent.
Everything was a bit expensive, and obviously not a lot of handguns for sale. What handguns they did have were either revolver clones, or super fancy finished 1911s and revolvers. I did see one booth sell a bunch of lugers and colts.
One thing that bothered me was the amount of AR shit. Sooo many different custom uppers.
Honestly i was expecting a fuckload of nuggets and NRA shills like most gun shows in the east.
Even met a couple who were selling custom steel plates.

Pretty much 100% AR shit here at the gun show in Visalia. It was alright if you were into ARs, but aside from that, nothing really great. Some good pistol deals and that's all. No good gear or exceptional ammo deals.

See I just have a Firearms Safety Certificate which I thought was just for long guns, but the guys at my lgs, who are pretty legit and seem to follow every law, said I was fine with the fsc. Did something happen recently regarding the requirements?

As of January 2015 you need the safety cert for all guns, not just handguns. It's only one test though.
