In a completely SHTF dark ages sent back 1000 years scenario. Will we re-discover guns/gunsmith? Or for that matter black powder?

What happens when the last round is wasted. Will we re-discover how to mold and craft .22 all the way to .50 CAL?

Will our re-discovery look exactly the same as the old guard? Or will it be new designs?

Are we going to revert to swords for a time being and our grand children use our old AKs ARS and shotguns as blunt weapons?

Probably so, there will be relics and obviously books that survive. Craftsmen of that time will base their designs on the rusting relics and books they read.

We used up too many fossil fuels. If we regress that far space is closed to is forever and we die out the next time climate or disease or natural disaster kicks our shit in. Gg no re.

Lmao. That's not how it works anon. I bet you believe global warming too.

I can guarantee you that controlling food, shelter, and fresh water will be the main focus in survival and power.

The biological processes that formed coal deposits can never happen again in a world with bacteria and fungi that can digest cellulose. Oil might be tricky too. Recapture of all that carbon to usable form would require centuries of tree planting, kelp farming, etc., and if we regress that far we'll forget it.

Yes, although it would probably never need to be re-discovered because it would not be forgotten.

>Are we going to revert to swords for a time being and our grand children use our old AKs ARS and shotguns as blunt weapons?

No. There will still be modern ammo around then FFS.

Fossil fuels are a finite resource, easily extinguished...fortunately, all the refined metals they were needed to extract are now conveniently heaped up and purified right on the earth's surface.

reloading is a thing, so as long as powder exists and ammo exists to feed the guns we have, they will continue to be used, but once civilization starts back up (in whatever scenario youre thinking) new designs would come along.

we have 500 years of fossil fuels left

Ammo is not infinite

If only there were millions of people who knew how to reload it or make it fresh, or even make black powder and lead ball.

it's a shame resources to do all that stuff aren't spread all over one of the world's biggest countries with a rich supply of natural resources...

More so the accessible fuels. Remember oil is the only reason we've done 90% of the shit we have. It's easily transportable and fairly stable.

Could claim coal is just as useful but you can't really have coal powered cars and trucks and get meaningful use out of them.

It's why it took so long to replace horse and cart despite steam engines being a thing for 200 years.

You Brass monkeys make reloading sound like its so fucking easy. And in a SHTF scenario where are you going to get your powder from?
