Glilon was my issued weapon during most of my service. It never jammed, was baddass looking and you could use it in hand to hand combat. But it's a heavy piece of metal to walk around with 24/7 compared to the M4 we got later.

At the moment: 7.62 RK 95 TP or Galil SAR.
With some luck 7.62 RK 62M (read: modernized 7.62 RK 62) should be pretty good as well, once they get the production version sorted out. At the moment there are only prototype versions. Its known that the final version will have new (Magpul CTR) telescopic rifle butt and attachments for optics (probably red-dot), but otherwise the details remain unclear.
7.62 RK 62 has the tubular stock with no adjustment of any sort and no way for attaching optics of any kind, so it is kind of old-fashioned. Plus I am not a big fan of RK 62 sights either - doing fine adjustments in the right sight for zeroing in the rifle is quite difficult plus the tunnel around front sight post is not easy to clean if snow gets inside it.

Nope - vz. 58 does not belong to AK family of rifles. Ammunition does not really matter - rifles of AK family have been made in large variety of calibers and even Saiga 12 shotgun is much more directly related to AK 47 than Vz. 58.
As for looks - form follows function and certain things just work when it comes to basic firearm ergonomics.
