my beef is it's shit. domestically produced shit tier ammo. the cases are dirty and the majority of them have dents which affects internal volume, which in turn makes them inconsistent.

and the real kicker is they cost 45 cents a round.

so you tell me how can a company like mke/zqi make ammo in turkey, ship it here, pay the import taxes and still sell it CHEAPER than ATK does to us?

they're a rip off.
>>
>>30317291

That was my issued armor from when I was in. I pretty much haven't dicked with it since.
>yes I carried 12 mags on me while deployed
>no, I never needed all 12, but there were a couple times I needed more than 7
Also, I had the 3L camelbak on my armor, a 2L camelbak *and* my 2L canteen in my assault pack, a 3/4L water bottle in each cargo pocket, plus whatever many cases of water were in the trucks. And we were routinely out of water by the time we got back inside the wire. We'd frequently do 18hr dismounted patrols with a single gun truck, which on top of the litter, concertina wire, 2 cases of MRE's, spare ammo, the 60mm mortar, and all the bullshit extras that our shave-tail LT insisted we take we usually only had room for like 4 cases (24x.75L) of water.

This is chicken choking.
>>
>>30317603
oh the traditional way to hold a VFG, the literal way.

none of this far advanced handstop shit lol
>>
>>30317623
Eh, kinda.

VFG's were always intended to be far enough out that there's not a significant bend in the elbow (though not straight-armed like TOB), and they're intended to be held with a straight wrist.

Chicken choking is where the VFG is both held too low (notice the significant gap between the top of my hand and the bottom of the rail) and placed close enough the arm is bent significantly, forcing the wrist to tilt forward. This eliminates any stability in your form, looks goofy, and introduces 2 new muscle groups that can fatigue and/or wobble around being muscles. It also makes the gun seem heavier as it makes the "lever" of your gun longer since there's more of it out in front of your body.

Basically, the reason it's called chicken choking is it looks like you're stroking it off, not holding it (choking the chicken, an old-ish euphemism for masturbating).

>>
>>30317670
Move your VFG forward. Basically, reverse the ladder covers on the bottom and that should tell you where it should be.

Check your eye relief, that scope looks to be mounted too far forward. Also, while that rail is pretty rigid it's still not a good idea to bridge the gap with the mount.

Can you reach the switch for your light with your support hand? It's on the "wrong" side of the rifle for a right-handed shooter.
>>
>>30317670
ladder rail covers gotta go, they look horrible and the lengths are inconsistent

that's just an aesthetic complaint though.

>>
>>30317707
another note on the optic, you see how you've pushed it back in the rings (not centered) but then you moved the whole mount up to bridge the receiver and the rail? that's silliness.

if you move the mount back 1 slot and then re-center the optic you'll probably have about the same eye relief because you'll be reloacting the optic forward a little when you center it in your rings.

is that top ladder rail black? i just wanted to complain. i hate ladder rails lol.

yours is especially hodgepodge lookin.

As I said I'm not sure how I feel about it yet but it was done on purpose.
Definitely wanted the stuff marked, and especially the safety marks since it's non standard (not safe/fire) so retards know what safe and what isn't. Other side is done well.

The magnifier magnifies things, the chest-mounted holster is so when you ND you're more likely to hit something vital. That or because trying to draw from a belt/dropleg holster when in the turret of an armored vehicle is about like trying to riverdance in neck-deep tapioca pudding and ball sweat. Not sure.

your safe marking is literally invisible if it's unfilled

if you fill the fire position it will DEFINITELY contrast against black.

you remind me of this tard at the range who kept painting the steel target at 500 yards on a clay dirt berm bright orange.

against a reddish dirt backdrop no one could fucking see the fucking plate ever. he could not understand no matter how many times i told him that painting it neon orange is fucking stupid because it wont contrast against the light dirt behind it at all. i suggested they paint it black and he looked at me like i'm insane.

Maybe be nicer to people trying to help you in life.

Except it isn't, there are numerous ways to make a receiver extension hence my preference for colt's.

Forged vs Billet. Rolled vs Cut threads. 6000 series vs 7000 series aluminum. Etc etc etc. All of which drastically affect the tensile strength of the tube.

I literally said is there a difference (dimensionally, around the pin locking protrusion which is where the stocks clamp to) between the mk18 colt tube and the m4 colt tube.

That was LITERALLY my question. Parenthesis for clarification because apparently you guys think wobble can only come from mil vs commercial. I'm talking about stocks that are properly matched and are still somewhat wobbly when LOCKED to the pin locking protrusion on the bottom of the tube. There is a KNOWN difference in dimension on the colt one vs other "mil spec" non-colt tubes on the market. That's why a CTR stock will lock tightly on other mil-spec tubes and not the colt one.

Way over your retarded heads. I should have never even asked here. tards.

Looks like shit (aesthetic is always valid), rifle has a noticeably sharper recoil impulse, puts increased wear on the bolt that can impact (very) long-term longevity. Mostly the aesthetics.
>>
>>30319395
Mid length or bust lil nigga.
>>
>>30319395
i have a 16" with carbine gas and the recoil is pretty god damn tame especially when not shooting at a bench. it may be considerably sharper than midlength though. however it has positive aspects as well.

It's lighter with the added bonus of the FSB being closer to the fulcrum leaving you with a better balanced rifle. Your rail options are cheaper if you stay within 7" as well.

The extra gas ensures pretty positive extraction if the upper tube is dirty. Of course this is only valid as long as the proper buffer is used to prevent early extraction. It all goes out the window if you extract early. You know this though.

I'm sure there are other benefits but i'm too tired to give a shit. i'm just trying to have convos with my fellow gun bros. so sick of this anti-gun bullshit coming at me from every direction.

There are some plusses, but 16" is simply an unoptimized barrel length for carbine gas. Not to say it won't work, it's just that mid-length gas is the best choice for that particular setup.

In regards to the context of that pic I posted, 16" carbine uppers by far and away make up most of the cheap, crappy offerings, and tend to be the go-to for uninformed plebs trying to put together an AR for $500.

yeah i know, they're the most prevalent so lots of newfags have them

the length difference is only 1.5 inches, the dwell time increase is inconsequential imo and port size affects the pressure as well.

Years ago, when I lived in a non free state, I had to pin my Ruger 10/22's Troy T-22 stock. I used a roll pin and epoxy. I've lived in a free state for years, and haven't gotten around to fixing it yet. What would be the best way? I think I should just use a smaller drill bit and just drill into the pin, then try and wiggle it out. The problem is, most people did not use Epoxy when they pinned their stocks. I did.

This one's actually not mine, but I have the same upper except an IR surefire and an 11.5" barrel.
There's something about the way the B5 grip looks with that rear sight that's super aesthetic to me.

Just purchased an Anderson stripped lower for $43, a fully assembled one with a magpul stock, and a PSA upper.

Preparing for times to get rough for gun lovers. PSA's stocks and prices are already changing by the minute.

drill the epoxy out and then try to punch the pin out or is it a blind pin?

Three, but couldn't even begin to tell you how to go about Saiga conversions. Haven't even seen that discussed since like 2013.

Blind. As it in only went in one side. Worst case scenario I tap it into the tube of the stock and then have to disassemble a bit and get it out of the tube stock. There's nothing in the tube stock, since it's for a ruger 10/22

Incidentally, the Green Mountain Military Vehicle Club is going to be there as well.

drill out epoxy, get an ez-out and attempt to extract the pin. unlikely to work but you might get a solid mechanical connection to it.

after that fails, drill it out kek

I grew up in Upstate NY so being 20 minutes from the border is nice. There's a lot of nice places there, but it's just not someplace I'll ever live in.

Bennington is a shithole, too.
