I don't mind when reload animations don't take into account if there is an extra round in the chamber, but seeing the AR only reloaded by the charging handle bothers me. Same with semi auto handguns when they grab the slide with their hand each time. There is a slide release / bolt release right next to your thumb!
>>
>>30313507
Mine is how 1911s are almost always uncocked. Sometimes, during a standoff or to to appear intimidating an actor will manually cock the hammer. Multiple times.

My pet peeve is that entertainment is probably the reason there is such a toxic culture surrounding firearms. People who shouldn't buy guns buy them because "they're cool" or because they saw them in Call of Duty instead of because they want to git gud at marksmanship or for self-defense or because they want to look hard for their bois on facebook. Then when they get the guns home they do irresponsible things with them or they end up killing themselves. I had a friend who wanted to buy a SCAR for a while, and when I asked him why he wanted a $2000 rifle when he's an unemployed stay at home dad he said "because it's my favorite gun in Call of Duty".

Gun owners in general are retarded. Either because no one taught them how to be responsible or because the ones who did teach them were even less responsible.

Anyway rant over, to answer your question I hate it when people don't at least attempt to mimic recoil and especially when they rack the slide on a gun that's ostensibly already chambered.

>>30313779

I hate this so much. It takes literally 180 seconds on google to know most everything about shotgun spread yet video game designers fuck it up for years and years, title after title.

I just tell myself its a gameplay mechanic to balance shotgun dmage against rifles and move on. If this wasn't the case then everybody would choose shotguns as most video game maps have engagement distances under 50 meters where a shotgun would be pretty damn effective against anyone without body armor.

Suspend your belief when playing games and enjoy them for the fantasy that they are.
>>
>>30315581
A tattoo of the Eastern hemisphere?
>>
>>30315607
It IS actually a balance thing, honestly. That's why even someone who knows guns to a certain degree like Josh Sawyer made shotguns work like that in fallout new vegas.
>>
>>30315607
It's a pretty clear cut balance thing. Most games take place at really close range compared to actual military engagements. They're fast pace and around-corners. Even really "tactical" games take place in really cramped spaces.

If shotguns didn't have that special niche, they'd basically just be rifles that fire too slowly to be relevant.
>>
>>30315783
That's why you add in different shot types, especially dragons breath
>>
>>30313507
I think The Walking Dead is the worst offender when it comes to a lack of shell ejection. Oh, and the muzzle flash is CGI, and in many scenes the recoil is just the actor jerking his wrist.

/vr/doom here:

it is a balance thing. unless you do realistic damage modeling to account for armor vs. projectile speed, you basically end up with either

>too OP of a weapon
>basically a slow, powerful rifle/pistol

in arcade shooters, the point of a shotgun is to either do heavy damage to a mid to high tier enemy, or to lay down suppression against groups of low to mid tier enemies.

the differences between long arms and how they function IRL doesn't come into play until you have a game that models armor and has wide open spaces.
>>
>>30317333

I mean they could at least do the slightest research into firearms if there is going to be a scene that relies entirely on them.

bethesda ruined my enjoyment of point lookout by virtue of making the lever action rifle reload animation load 5 rounds each time AND operate the lever without ejecting a round.

Or they didn't feel like making 6 different models of the gun just to keep 1% of their audience from sperging out.

>Same with semi auto handguns when they grab the slide with their hand each time. There is a slide release / bolt release right next to your thumb!

That's totally viable, very common, and widely taught.

It's called acting, playing a role, pretending to be someone you're not. Also known as doing a job and getting paid for it. I love dogs to death, but my local animal shelter needed a vet tech to gas puppies to death, so that's what I do.

Even a normal house exterior wall.. 1/4" of concrete "hardy board" if up wanna look it up, 1/2" of plywood sheeting, studs every 16 inches, And then drywall

What triggers me is the Payday 2 hoxton breakout trailer. That 10 minute trailer was just so...ugh.
I'm a fan of Payday but the trailer...
Just watch it.

>Highly trained and/or experienced character that has been shown to oper8 oper8tionally has the bullets taken out of their gun and doesn't notice until they try to shoot someone.

Do they honestly not realize what a fucking humiliating mistake that is? It basically establishes that this is maybe the first or second time the character has ever held a gun.

>reload animations R hard, sure obsidian did it in FO:NV but they can't make a current gen FO game so just deal. quit your sperging it totally doesn't look like a partially finished mod to have the lever gun reload 5 times every time

todd plz. this is why nuka world will be shit too.

No no see, he's got an entire other rifle slung on the other side of his body, do you think that might be what the bayonets are for?

Not firearms but

>Every single explosive is actually full of gasoline
>Even high explosive artillery shells produce soft, cotteney balls of fire
>As long as the fire doesn't directly touch you you will be completely uninjured besides maybe a few sexy smears of dirt and blood on your face
>If it touches you at all, you must immediately excuse yourself from existence or come back horribly deformed in the second act.

You'd think with CGI they'd be able to cut this shit out. Also

>Character is shot in head
>Perfectly formed hole between eyes
>Nobody's jaw is ever shot off
>Nobody ever just loses the upper right quater of their skull
>Exit wounds do not exist

treated bolt actions with no respect that what, at least world at war I could run around with mosin k98 and type 98 with no problem, that and the fact they are trivializing the defining conflict that spawned then ext 100 years of history

Some character racking a shotgun to threaten someone, especially if they were supposed to be guarding someone.

There's this one fucking episode of Burn Notice where Fiona is supposed to be guarding this room with Daniel Jackson From Stargate in it, and in the space of five minutes she racks the gun three times with no shells flying out.

I was waiting for the voiceover to say how threatening someone with an empty gun is some top flight spy shit, but it never happened.

Black got it right too, despite the fact that it was otherwise meant to be unrealistic gunporn.

Admittedly I do buy guns because I think they're nifty. Or (in the case of a few) because I saw them in a movie or game. Total Recal's horrific remake showed me the rhino. Battlefield showed me the UTS15. learned of the Cz scorpions from resident evil. Hell, John woo is why I started liking beretta haha.
I don't think there's anything wrong with buying something you think is neat if you're responsible with it.
