380-500 bucks for a norinco 97, good idea? I'm not sure how much to pay for a shotgun.
>>
you can easily get an original Winchester 1897 for around $200-$300 you just have to get a good auction off gunbroker (thats counting shipping or FFL cost)
>>

I would get an original so you can get that sweet takedown feature.

No, they all go for 1000 dollars.
>>
>>30300942
If you're willing to accept slight alternatives, you can get a Stevens 520 style shotgun (with takedown) for under 300 if you look around a bit

The appeal of the norincos is that they come in the trench gun configuration with a heat shield and bayo lug.

Sure a basic 97 can be found cheap, but a trench gun, idk...

Can the norincos slam fire like the originals?

Obviously you didn't look that hard if all you found was $1,000+ these might be slightly out of the parameters I gave fora great deal but still well under OP's Norinco prices

All the short ones are in terrible condition. How much does it cost to have a barrel sawn off?
>>
i have a norinco 97. i got it for $300 new several years ago. it's always worked well for me. and slam firing is fun. if you can find it for 4 hundy or so i would say it is worth.

Old ones can't take modern ammunition though, would need to be either cowboy load or blackpowder
>>
>>30303835
you have no idea what you are talking about
the The Model 1897 was the first Winchester shotgun chambered for 2-3/4 " Smokeless Shells Just before Producing the 1897, The Model 1893 was for Black powder in 2-5/8"
