I personally don't own either but I would say the m16a1 cuz 20 in barrel 1/7 twist with 55gr 5.56 especially in home defense where's it point blank mostly ittl fuck shit up more then the ar15 since it's 16.5 in barrel which won't get the 20 in barrels special abilities of more velocity which I'm mostly focused on, there's nothing wrong with 16in barrel ar15 it'll still fuck shit up just not as more as 20in I think ar15. Based on what I summed up on research.
