Can you buy weapons in Texas as a legal immigrant or you need to be an American born citizen to own weapons?

Legal immigrant, you say? Well then, welcome aboard. You'll be fine. As long as you are 18+ and have no felonies, I don't think there will be any problems.
>>
>>30275626
You just need to be a permanent legal resident.
>>

Texas also allows legal immigrants to apply for a CHL/LTC.
>>
I'm not OP.
If I go to Texas on a work visa(H1B), I've heard I can buy firearms as long as I have a hunting license.
Now, does that cover only hunting weapons? Or could I get a hunting license and buy an AR-15 or pistol?

Come to Mexico...We all own weapons. And Machetes
>>
>>30276313
there is no distinction between weapons. As long as you wouldn't be turned away on other requirements, ofc

>We all own weapons
You ain't fooling me. I know damn well that only cartel members and police/military own weapons in Mexico.

In short, yes you can as a non-immigrant but there are some hoops to jump through.

Here is some reading to do. just be aware it was published in 2011 so review the source websites carefully for any changes.

Other eurofag here.

This years lottery is over. You can apply for the next in October.

In the meantime I contacted some agencies specialised on immigration laws. There are some that do not only help with some papers, but also things like renting a house, buying a car and even have lists of employers willing to sponsor the visa.
That was recommended by the guy from the embassy / DHS, also.

I'm an Ausfag with a sincere yearning for some freedom too desu. Not only for funs, but all the policies that go along with strict gun control have me feeling like this place has no future. I can see Europe going down a similar path.

I'm an electrician and have a fair bit of capital behind me, but finding an employer willing to sponsor you in is the hard bit! I'll keep entering the lottery, but I wish there was more information on employers sympathetic to hiring foreigners. There seems to be a lot of businesses preying on people trying to find a way in.

Any tips or hints from people who've done it before? My current plan is to go over there on holiday first and try and get a lay of the land, employment wise.

oh and by
>businesses preying on people trying to find a way in
I just meant those websites that ask you to pay up front so they'll either enter you in the lottery or find you an employer, they seem quite fishy and I've heard bad things

If you have a BIT of capital behind you, there is the possibility to found a business.
And there is a small amount of additional visa for those, who own a company and want to expand into the US, but have not this much capital in the back.

Even with my limited capabilities as a foreign speaker I was able to read and understand the lottery process without any paid help.

But coming to the agencies I mentioned above. I think these are helpful. I had two job offers a few month ago, but it was like 'start over next month'. If I learned something in the IT-Project management it was: International project? First go to the legal department, second hire a foreign lawyer.

What about AZ? Can I do it on a visa? Student/Nafta ones?

>An alien admitted to the United States under a nonimmigrant visa is prohibited from shipping, transporting, receiving, or possessing a firearm or ammunition unless the alien falls within one of the exceptions provided in 18 U.S.C. 922(y)(2), such as: a valid hunting license or permit

>A nonimmigrant alien who has established residency in a State may purchase and take possession of a firearm from an unlicensed person, provided the buyer and seller are residents of the same State, and no other State or local law prohibits the transaction. A nonimmigrant alien with residency in a State may purchase a firearm from a licensee, provided the sale complies with all applicable laws and regulations.

Get your hunting license, buy guns.
