Most of the proponents of gun control are ivory tower Greenies that would have never seen a gun in real life regardless of any bans.
Go out to the country and everyone hates it, pest species are out of control, damage to farms from pest species has increased by a factor of ten.
The red tape is so bad a farmer can't just get a few of his mates to come down and start removing camels and have a few beers.
He has to provide them individually with written authorisation, occasionally even get permission from the local police and absolutely no money or goods can change hands.
To be a professional shooter, killing pests for farmers, you actually require the contracts before you have the license.
You have to find 5 or 6 farmers willing to wait six months for the paper fuckage, after signing a contract to pay you to kill their pests, before you can apply for a Cat D.
Life is hell here.
Well, to counter the "the founders never foresaw semi auto rifles with 100 round assault clips" argument you can direct them to the founding fathers' actual writings, where they speculated that the government would naturally grow out of control and would have to be periodically overthrown.
They did not foresee a nation of sheeple that have become so fearful and complacent that they have become willingly enslaved by a dictatorial bureaucracy.

One good argument in the wake of the Orlando shootings that has occurred to me: even in the lefties ideal gun controlled world, they agree that SOME people should be allowed firearms for their work. Well the Orlando shooter was one of those people, he used firearms for a living. Gun control would not have kept that rifle out of his hands. Even in Australia he would have had access to semi auto pistols.
