I have a stupid question. Why the fuck are cheap revolvers more expensive than cheap semi auto handguns? They're physically much simpler, fewer moving parts, so I assume they'd be cheaper to build.
Why can you get a shitty but serviceable Hipoint 9mm new for under $200, but not a cheap revolver of similar caliber (not a damn snubnose) for a similar price? Why isn't there a Hipoint of revolvers?

I have a Ruger American (pistol), and sometimes the slide stop disengages when I slap a magazine in. Is this worth sending it in for repairs?

My Springfield XD-9 rarely engages the slide release when I finish a magazine. Is this normal or is the American Eagle ammo I'm using just bad? I've never had this problem with my 1911, but otherwise I haven't had any issues with operation.

no, it is very common for polymer handguns. The reason why it happens is because when you slap the magazine hard enough into the magwell, the frame of the grip might flex a litte bit causing the slide to go forward. There are several youtube videos on this.

Hey guys, I'm planning on getting a firearm for home defense—looking at pistols, since I would like to carry as well at times. However, I'll be in an apartment complex and am worried about overpenetrating and injuring or killing one of my neighbors. Anyone got any advice on how to mitigate this? I'm against the idea of purse guns for many reasons. But if she does do it, she needs some kind of purse holster or sleeve to both allow her to grab the gun quickly and to prevent her from accidentally causing the trigger to go.

Use hollow points and don't use any crazy loads. I recommend plain old .38 spl., not even the +P or anything. Strong enough to wreck someone's shit from across a room, but it won't be penetrating fucking anything.

Literally no reaching for a slide release or having to rack it. Slam it home and go.
Also, I've not played with an American yet, but on the M&P it is definitely a "slide stop" not a "slide release." I chuckle watching friends/senpai the first time they try to "release" the slide. Just get it back a tiny bit with a hand/thumb&finger/steering wheel/pantleg and it'll take care of itself.

I was in the same boat when Sandy Hook rolled around. Unless there's a major push for a weapons ban the panic should end quickly. If it drags on, you may want to consider doing what I did and get a pistol caliber carbine instead. Ammo isn't as cheap as .22LR but it will be easier to find and still much cheaper than rifle rounds.

Boils down to how important the furniture is to you, inspect the gun if he's nearby and check the condition. 600 isn't terrible, but not great for a used wasr. Try talking him down to 550 if you actually want it. Or wait on it, as it's ultimately up to you.

Spent the best part of half an hour searching for it. 4 U, anon.
So I'm having an issue with my factory CZ75 mags - all of them are good except for one, which will not feed if loaded to capacity. The mag will have 16/16 rounds with none in the chamber, but racking the slide will not properly feed the first round, leading to a jam. I then have to eject the magazine and re-rack the slide to get it to "eject" the round. It functions flawlessly with 15/16 rounds in the magazine, and 16/16 for all the other magazines. As near as I can tell, there is something fucked up with the feed lips, where they're too sharp/not angled properly or something.
Does anyone else know how to fix this issue? Mailing the magazine for repair/replacement isn't really going to work because I'm in a shithole state with mag restrictions.

3. Is it wise to weld shotgun shells together for a specially made gun? Basically to act as a quick loader with seating and sealing that takes the odd shape of the welded shells into consideration.

I've got a 12 gauge I'm going to use for home defence, but I live in Canada where the laws are somewhat restrictive regarding self defence. To avoid killing somebody and going to jail I'd prefer to have the gun as more of a deterrent or at least used to incapacitate an intruder rather than killing them. Alright, /k/. I need a quick clarification. My understanding is that acquiring parts for full-fun is really expensive and requires a decent wait time. I've seen fully automatic AKs for 15 grand, as well as full-auto trigger groups going for the same rate. I've read that getting an M-16 would run you between 14-16 grand.

The parts have no special value unless they're the serialized part that's registered with the ATF. For example, an M16 lower or RDIAS costs as much as a car because there are only a certain number of them that a regular person can legally own, but a Geissele SSF trigger assembly is only slightly more expensive than an SSA because of the limited pool of legitimate buyers and >muh USSOCOM.
