No doubt they will hugely embellish but that grenade was common enough. It was used in a field expedient antitank role.

But they were. German Stormtroopers used artillery Luger's with these snail drums prior to the MP-18 (which also uses these magazines).

Basically it was a quick firing carbine that allowed shock troops to lay down fire quickly. Pretty good weapon for the purpose at the time.
>>
I think it was Jackfrags or some other DICE/BF shill, but DICE plans to use historical equipment from the time period. Some will be experimental or prototypes, but their design existed at some point.

Either way, BF has been pretty shit since BC2 came out, I can't say this game will be any better. It certainly won't represent combat of the time period though.

While were in the era, could pic-related be considered as an assault rifle?
After all, it was chambered in a intermediate cartridge (8x35mm) and was select-fire.
Never adopted as "not accurate enough after 400m" as well as being heavy.

Fucking finally. I'm hoping the vehicle-babby safety net is getting weaker then.

I think vehicles belong in Battlefield, but I also think they shouldn't be practically invincible as they are in Battlefield 3 and 4

Battlefield 1942 was fine, Vietnam was fine, Battlefield 2 was fine, even BC2 had the vehicles balanced out pretty well, but in 3 or 4 you have to be incredibly shit to actually die in one.

Or in the case of Jets or Helicopters, you just have to be in the wrong 3/4s of the map.

Aircraft were a joke and still are a joke against anything but other aircraft, in both games. I mean c'mon, a Hellfire missile can't destroy a Humvee? Or a JDAM not destroying a tank? Only good aircraft is the fucking CAS planes, and even they are only limited to their gun in terms of pure effectiveness.

I'll give you this though, at least BF3 didn't have the fucking "Press X not to take damage" button that BF4 does on armor. Fucking ridiculous, really.

Wouldn't that be so fucking heavy that it would totally negate the purpose of a stick grenade in the first place?

Stick grenades have the advantage of being able to the thrown much farther. You can't throw it far if it weighs 20 fucking pounds. That's a good way to tear your rotator cuff, which would be really fun to do on a battlefield.

I supposed you could, in theory, throw them. But they look too unwieldy for that, and they weight 6 or 7 pounds. Besides, most AT grenades are shaped charges(including this one) and therefore must land in a right angle with the armor. Otherwise they are mostly harmless. That's why they usually had some sort of stabilisation device on the handle. The RPG-43 had fabric ribbons, and the Panzerwurfmine had some canvas fins.

>>
>>30253241

They were very powerful in good hands. The guided missiles would one hit any vehicle.

But:

They did not regenerate health.
They did not regenerate ammo.
In many maps you could capture their airfields/helipads and deny their ability to rearm or repair.
If you couldn't capture the strip, you could still camp it and attempt to destroy the vehicle while it was low and slow.
You could steal the it vehicles from the enemy base if they were left unguarded.
You could tell, by looking at it, if a helicopter had any missiles left on its pylons.

Having played both, the Post-BF2 system is garbage.

Like the k98 in Dod fucking Oneshot, super accurate if you're not moving, right click bayonet stab for a secondary. Shit was great. One second you're picking off allies from accros the map the next second you're stabbing some bastard thatjust rounded the corner, pulling off twitch melee kills faster than you mentally register so you still shoot the bastard after you killed him already.
>mfw the enfield was basically the same thing with 10 rounds instead of 5 at the trade off of a little less accurate.
>>
>>30257274
Yeah. I honestly see them making the bolt-actions equally as viable as the SMGs but with a totally different playstyle. Trench sweepers sweep trenches, but have fun trying to shoot anyone at range with them. Contrawise, rifles hit hard and at range, but are extremely unwieldy in close quarters and have a (comparatively) long cycle.

Honestly, I see the bolt-actions becoming a status symbol: you aren't considered good until you can use them effectively.

The Treaty of Versailles even included language barring Germany from building large rigid framed vehicles for it's own use.

Guns shown/confirmed so far:
C96 & C96 Carbine
"Artillery" Luger (Used in photoshoot, but the Luger is listed in the Red Baron DLC)
M1911
Webley-Fosbery Automatic Revolver and/or Webley Mk IV
MP-18
Gewehr 98

Beretta M1918
Hotchkiss M1909 Benét–Mercié
Bergmann MG15
Remington Model 10
M1903 Springfield (Shown in photoshoot image in WWII era M1903A3, but that was likely an error, it was just a photoshoot)

Didn't include field guns, artillery, emplacements, or aircraft MG's.

I love this conversation because:

1) You are correct. The video clearly shows that after the user loads ammo and removes clip, the slide will snap into place by itself.

2) Using "clip" is not only appropriate, but also correct in this conversation. After years on /k/ this makes me giddy.

Because BF's fanbase are gamers, not history buffs. Gamer kids aren't interested in sitting in a Trench with a 5 shot bolt-action, they want ACTION and that's why every single player in BF1 will have a machine gun, there will be no melee combat, no horses. et cetera.

Friendly reminder EA NEVER made anything good and this time it's not going to be different.

It is confirmed to be featured in the game.
In the gameplay livestream done today, melee combat and bayonet charging were shown, in gameplay.
Horses are also confirmed as part of gameplay, as the Lawrence of Arabia DLC includes a "black stallion" skin for your horse.
>>
>>30258110
There was lots of melee in the 3 matches they livestreamed, including bayonets mounted on rifles and MP-18s. Hell, they mentioned there was a specific mechanic for bayonet charges.

In the DLC lists, they mention that "Lawrence of Arabia's Black Stallion" is an available replacement for your horse in maps that have them.
>>
Is it only Germans vs British/American or is there someone else?
>>
>>30258132
Confirmed factions so far:
British / Commonwealth vs Germany
Italy vs Austria-Hungary
No confirmation of the US or the French. (The black soldier wears the same British uniform as the rest of the commonwealth. Other than the English, Aussies and Indians/Sikhs are confirmed as part of the "British" faction)
>>
>>30258132
We've seen Bongs, Germans, Americans, Italians, Arabs, and Ottomans so far. The French are as-of-yet unseen, but their guns are in the game.

Furthermore, the Bongs appear to have their various famous colonial regiments as skin unlocks. We've seen proof of the King's African Rifles, and an Indian soldier wearing a turban.

The tear shaped balloon (Ae800/caquot) was originally designed as an observation balloon that would later be used as barrage balloons as well, especially during WWII.

So he technically isn't incorrect, although in the context of the trailer, they would be barrage balloons as there is no gondola and they are in the middle of a dogfight.

Movies fucking suck though. They get everything wrong and have stupid shit like happy endings and plot armor. When you have to follow a cliche narrative structure to please idiots, you're limiting yourself.
A truly gritty game that's well-made would fly off the shelves. If people wanted to just watch movies they wouldn't invest hundreds in gaming rigs. They want to immerse themselves. And nothing breaks immersion like a game feeling like a blockbuster.
