I didn't even notice these before

Okay yeah its a Aussie No.1 MkIII. I was told mine was Australian when I bought mine, ended up being a rifle made in New Zealand
>>

>Texas

Hey, I'm from Texas too. Where exactly did you find that Enfield? I've been thinking about getting one.
>>
>>30243213
Alright thanks, $365 a good price for that? Also I don't think the numbers match some look forced match. Also the stamp on the trigger guard is BA. I was told that was a factory where they stripped them down and rebuilt them with different parts.
>>
>>30243247
I payed 350 after tax for my Kiwi SMLE so I say you did pretty good. For some reason Aussie SMLE's go for more then British, Indian and I want to say New Zealand but I dont think I have ever seen another Kiwi SMLE
>>
>>30243233
It was a gun show in Dallas, I live near Longview. There is one next weekend in Dallas and Tyler. Also one coming up in Shreveport soon. Just be on the lookout for gunshow dates.
>>
>>30243247
$365 is on the high side.
>Also I don't think the numbers match some look forced match.
I can see the bolt is matching. Only the bolt and the nosecap were numbered. They might have stopped numbering nosecaps by '41 too.
The number on the bottom side of the bolt is just a factory assembly number. There should be a number on the receiver that also matches that number. It was done during production to keep the parts together before the rifles were serialized and finished.
>Also the stamp on the trigger guard is BA. I was told that was a factory where they stripped them down and rebuilt them with different parts.
No, that's just the maker's mark.
>>30243213
>ended up being a rifle made in New Zealand
New Zealand didn't make Enfields.

Thanks for helping me figure this out, I like to know about my guns when I show people and I was hoping I got a good deal. Plus it looks good with the others >pic related
>>
>>30243247
Decent price. Forced match, bolt is also probably not original. Some parts are from Lithgow and the sister factory Bathhurst while others have British markings. Might have been rebuilt by Lithgow on 1955.
>>
>>30243322
BA is for Bathurst. Just one of Lithgow's breeder factories.
>>
>>30243322
Just looked and the nose cap matches
>>
>>30243295
Holy shit dude I'm also near Longview. Small world.

OP did pretty good given current prices on Enfields. Lithgows always seem to be marked up because they're Australian. I paid $225 for a 1916 BSA No.1 mkIII* in 2010.

We should hit the range sometime, just somewhere besides topshot
>>
>>30243369
Are you going to the Gun/Car show at Maude Cobb July 16th and 17th? If you are, just look for a dude in a green wheelchair and you'll probably find me.
>>
>>30243399
I try to make it, that's around my birthday so I might be out of state, still haven't decided what I'm doing for it but I might go to Birmingham to the CMP. I go to most gun shows at Maude Cobb, I even went the the friends of the NRA banquet this year and won a rifle.

>>30243479
That's a British "peddled" rifle
>>
Here in NZ full-wooded matching parts smles are going $700-$1000NZD (500-700USD)

Maybe I need to buy one wherever you are, theyre getting real expensive here.
>>
>>30243566
What that mean?
>>
>>30243668
Actions were made by 2-3 companies and small parts farmed out to every company capable of making them. Assembled at an armoury and issued.
Early attempted at de-centralized manufacturing in order to produce mass quantities of rifles.

Huh, interesting
