Are M65s memejackets or is it worth getting one?
>>
>>30231518
Memes. They were worth getting when they were 5 dollars.
>>
>>30231518
I second that.
They fit like shit, feel like shit, and look like shit (IMO). They're meme tier homeless jackets and the sleeves on mine are frayed after minimal use.
>>
>>30231518
I have had one since I was 16 hasn't let me down, the liner is convenient I use it during the winter (I live in Michigan for reference) and use it fall and spring without the liner, dont get a camo one if you dont wanna look like an army weenie but thats up to you anyway I love my m65 personal experiences may vary
>>
>>30231518
Better as a fashion statement. There are nicer jackets for cheaper.
>>
>>30231630
I got mine for 10 bucks at a gun show
>>
>>30231647
Check their price now, senpai. Great when they were cheap, now not so much.

Harder than contra now.

Goddamnit
>>
>>30231518
Alpha Industries made them for the army back in the day and they still make them today. If you're not poor you can buy for about $200 sans liner.

Happy with mine, it'll last years.
>>
>>30231835
Some of the knockoffs that are much more fitted than the originals definitely are. Most people just look homeless otherwise.
>>
>>30231518
M85's are better
>>
is there a light jacket or shirt style with those kind of dump pockets? i find them pretty useful but m65s are too heavy and ugly
>>
>>30234974
A Vietnam era third pattern jacket is very similar but lighter and more jacket than parka. Maybe too similar for your tastes though.

They're the textbook fuckboy piece.

You should sport a hy, take up smoking (smokes and cocks), wear skinny black jeans and stan smiths since you cannot think for yourself.

5.11 makes a slimline M65 repro, but it doesn't have the drop pockets at the waist. Instead it has hand warmer pockets with a pass through, and hidden pockets on the chest.
>>
>>30231518
I've had one for nearly 10 years now. It's good from 69F to 10F(with liner). Water resistant not proof, no matter how much silicone spray I put on it, but it does dry quick. Pockets are huge and could put basically w/e you want in it. Worst thing about it is that it's pretty freaking heavy.

Looks wise, apparently it's a "classic" look. It has a waist band that you can adjust to your content and if you have broad shoulders it works out better. You'll only look homeless if you are a dirty fuck anyway or you are homeless.
>>
>>30231630
Link em. M-65's go for $30-120 where I see them. What is cheaper and as good or better?
>>
>>30231518
Some quick googling has yielded that it is expensive as fuck for what it is. Meme tier.
>>
>>30231518
you can buy these things in "milsurp" catalogs and online for $20 to $30 if you bother to look around a bit
>>
>>30234974

There's the M65 Caimain, which is a redesigned M65 (porduced by Alpha Industries, manufacturer of the OG M65) that only uses a single layer of fabric. I've never managed to track one down though.
>>
>>30234974
Pretty much any BDU shirt
>>
If you can find an OD French parka/m65 with the liner for under $50 grab it. Looks /fa/ as fuck and keeps you warm.
>>
>>30231518

Got an Austrian Surplus Jacket for like 20$.

the only gripe i have are the gigantic sleeves

>>30238020
Alpha Industries are overpriced. Zippers sucks. I had one of their jackets and returned it.

M65s are fucking awesome, I wore mine all winter and several people at bars and shit asked where I got it. They're pretty effay if you know how to accessorize properly.

Protip: ONE PIECE OF SURPLUS ONLY per outfit. Street clothes with one nice, unripped, clean surplus piece looks urban and cool. More than one piece looks like you're about to shoot up the place, dirty or ripped and you look homeless.
>>
>>30238667
I wear an OD vest under mine and top it with a patrol cap or boonie, mili patch on the should and I'm go for drawing long looks everywhere I go

fuck urban apparel, military fashion show is the way to go

You're doing it wrong. The other poster was a thousand percent correct about just wearing one item of surplus. I'm no faggot fashion cop - I'm merely saving you from being labeled a freak.

There are certainly better options available but the M65 is still pretty cozy. Just don't pay retail for one, look on Ebay or your local thrift store. If you want something a bit lighter look for Eotac or Woolrich Elite field jacket. it's based on a French Foreign Legion jacket from the 50's and has a metric ton of pockets.
>>
>>30231518
get one lad if ya want one...fuck what anyone else says...think for yourself.
>>
>>30239262
Hey, that's pretty good.
>>
>>30231518
Their fit is complete shit, so unless you're a big guy, it'll be too baggy for you
>>
>>30239179
Everything I do labels me a freak, honestly, I can't be normal unless I dress conservatively, do nothing, pull out no books to read, and say nothing. That is not life, I choose to live even if I put myself into the role of outcast. Besides, after the initial shock, most people seem to like me a lot for some reason or another- maybe I'm actually retarded and just don't realize it, who knows.

I'm like a fungus, I grow on people.
>>
M65s fit if you arent a lankey manley
>>
>>30240935
Dude, I like how overflowing this thing is on my lank ass body, fucking cuddley. I'll be the most adorable mass murderer ever.
