So I was set on getting a Glock 19, when the guy at the LGS pulled this one down. I wanted to do some due diligence before just going Glock. With a budget being very close to or less than 500USD, which one and why /k/?

FWIW, This is my first handgun, but I have much experience with 10mm and .380ACP. Just want a reliable all around gun for range/home/carry.
>>
>>30228499
Shoot both at a range that has rentals. Then decide. 19 is fine. I carry my glock less and fnx more now but carried a glock for probably 5 years.
>>
>>30228499
I like thoes Springfield remakes, the xd series. ~$500. I got the xd .45 first, then the xdm 9. The 9 is easier to carry, but the .45 isnt exactly difficult.
>>
2022 is too fat to conceal. It's meant to be a duty weapon. They should also be at least $100 cheaper than a glock. I bought mine new for $350 a while back. They are good guns, the 19 still be more versatile though.
>>
>>30228700
>2022 is too fat to conceal

You mean it's too fat for your preference
>>
>>30228499
Sig is for redneck shitters who want to put a bumper sticker on their car to advertise that they bought a gun that offers nothing better than any other gun in its class but inexplicably costs 10-15% more. In my entire life I've never seen someone articulate exactly why they chose a Sig except with stupid nonsensical shit like "the action is just so smooth."

Glock is a gun. It shoots bullets. There is nothing surprising about them at all, quite possibly the most boring product in history. I would not be surprised if Gaston Glock stole the design from a Soviet central planning document next to the word "handgun" because it's just that boring/basic: literally just a box that bullets come out of and nothing else.

Buy the Glock because at least then you can blame "following the crowd" for your shit taste. You're going to end up with buyer's remorse either way.

Not a fucking Glock
1.) Fuck Gaston Glock.
2.) Even at $500 dollars you're still paying $350 more than Glock regularly costs just because you're a Civilian and Glock doesn't think you should own guns.
3.)For an OC, keep on your nightstand, all around decent gun i've never been disappointed with a Sig. If you want to CC go with something smaller like a Springfield compact or an M&P Shield. In any case, stick with 9mm
>>
If your looking for a glock 19 and ended up looking at a sig atleast look at the p320 carry/compact.
>>
>>30228770
>I'm poor
>>
>>30228766

All else being equal, a fatter gun is more difficult to conceal than a thinner gun.
>>
>>30228781

Politics isn't why guns cost more to civilians than they do to military and police.
>>
>>30228770
Poor guy. And I do mean poor. You talk shit but offer no solution. So what would you suggest? And can you define "redneck shitters"? This is /k/, after all.
>>
>>30228821
I did, I wasn't a fan on the compact how the grip left my fingers on or hanging off the bottom of the grip. Also, I really like the decocker on the Sp2022. While I understand it might be trying to imitate the more expensive aluminum frame Sig products, I don't see the need to spend that much more.
>>
>>30228700
>>30229262
The width didn't feel like a problem. The guy at the store had a couple of Alien Gear IWB holsters for each gun, and they both were really similar. The Sig was definitely taller, but I didn't need to adjust my belt on either gun while it was holstered.

It's looking like I'll eventually end up with both.
>>
But that's not Browning or Smith and Wesson.
>>
>>30228700
They have been sitting around 500 for about 4 years now at least.
>>
>>30229262
And pretty much everyone knows that. However being too fat to conceal vs slightly more difficult for some individuals aren't the same thing

I have both. I much prefer the lower bore axis of the Glock but the DA/SA trigger on the SP2022 is also pretty good.

Get both.

Ive come to understand reading about and listening to Mr. Glock that he initially didn't want his handguns (or handguns in general) to fall into civilian hands, but in favor of becoming wealthy he put his principles aside. I definitely don't agree with being that particular flavor of hypocritical...but isn't it sort of hypocritical to go and buy <y> brand over <x> because the person who is responsible for <x> brand's existence has poor politics? With that logic, why buy anything German because of possible traces to Nazism? Why buy anything American if many American businesses abuse 3rd world countries?

My point is truly good consumer ethics can be so expensive you'll starve by trying to find a loaf of bread that's produced with pure, happy thoughts.

Pure.

happy.
...thoughts.
>>
>>30230310
haha That sounds like what I'll end up doing. Thanks for the suggestion. The DA/SA is what sold me on the 2022.
>>
>>30230447
I will never buy a glock because of his politics. Sig all the way, along with any domestic manufacturer that supports 2A, I will never buy a Ruger either
>>
>>30230447
It's not about good consumer ethics, but about not purchasing from a company in a relatively small market because they are opposed to such market existing. Maybe it's a personal thing, but it just bugs me that they charge the price of a decent to mid-grade handgun for a meh handgun at most because they hate the market they're in. I'm 100% free market, and power to them, but they will never receive my support.

It's too hypocritical for me.
But this ain't /pol/ I'm done with this segment.
>>
>>30230447
>With that logic, why buy anything German because of possible traces to Nazism

Yeah, that's not going to have the effect you intended.

The Nazism is a poor comparison. Its ridiculous to support a manufacturer that doesn't support civilian ownership. It would be like Sony selling their PlayStation's and lobbying to ban videogames in households cause they may be to violent
>>
if you want a glock buy the glock its a better gun
a 2022 is a placeholder you settle for cause you are poor and upgrade to a 226 or other gun when you get funds
>>
>>30231687
I have a 2022 and it's a nice little polymer gun that I'm not afraid to toss in my glove box. I'll end up buying a 229 at some point. But I would recommend the 2022 to anyone.
>>
>>30228770
Sour grapes the post.

And op the 2022 is a great gun buy it and be happy.
>>
>>30230447

This is similar to the Bill Ruger situation. It may be true that Gaston Glock didn't believe in civilian firearms ownership. That doesn't mean the guns are bad or more importantly that the company itself doesn't cater to a civilian market. CCW guns like the G42 and G43 were specifically made for civilians. The G20 was specifically made for civilians. All the MOS models were specifically made for civilians.

I know what you guys are saying, but the market even existing is a bit of a slap in the face.if you really want to hold completely true to that then you limit yourself a lot with tons of products and business. I try to do it as well, but I really have to hate the person

Alternate option would be a CZ 75 compact or PCR if you want a SA/DA with a metal frame. They can be had used for your price range or new at about 50 dollars above it.

I don't own any, and I have like $20k into my funz collection

$50 more and get yourself a vp9.
Not even trolling.
Owned a p2022 and. They're just to bulky and kinda meh compared to all other sigs but the vp9 can be had for not to much and it fits the hand a lot better.
>>
>>30236363
In what universe? The VP9 is like $600-650, the Sp2022 is $480 where I can buy one. Besides, the 2022's trigger is better than the VP9, and that's saying something, yet the P30 isn't as good as the VP9. If anything, suggest a Walther PPQ or something you ignoramus

For an example. If your most expensive firearm is less than 5 figures and you still brag about its price like you're special, you're a shitter. I bought a $2k computer with my fucking paper route in 8th grade, what the fuck do you people do for a living that $1200 is a lot of money to you???

>>30231802
Sour grapes over what? Budget guns for people who want to post gun selfies to their Facebook buddies? As the kids say, y'all niggas is wack.

For what its worth, my recommendation stands. Glock is a better value proposition than a budget Sig.
>>

Glock isn't a better value proposition, it's just another value proposition.

There's no such thing as a budget gun. There's only such a thing as a good gun that serves it's purpose correctly, and one that doesn't. Stick your shithead attitude up your dick.
