What's the point of the f35 when a modernized f4 can carry most missions just fine?

What's the point of airplanes or tanks when rifles can kill sandniggs just fine?
>>30228192
Objectively all both planes are gonna do is dropping couple jdams here and there and then go back to base.

Because an F-4 will die whenever it faces anything older than 1970s tech

So like in the 0.1% of the actual bombing missions?
F4 Is so beautiful.
Too bad it's only redeeming factors are that it looks good and can go in straight line very fast

There is a reason that the US used F-22's to drop SDB's in Syria.
If i have to explain that reason...no, i refuse to explain the reason if you are too fucking stupid to see it.
>>30228373
F-22 has SDB compatibility? Hm. You wouldn't think that'd be a priority? How many fit in the bays?
>>30228360
Why do you think the US has nukes?
>>30228410
8x; same as the F-35; the F-22's weapon bays are roughly the same length / width as the F-35's, just not as deep.

>F-22 has SDB compatibility?
Officially, at the time of the bombing? Nope.
See, the thing about America is we enjoy testing the FUCK out of shit. F-35 is proof of this. The test birds have already flown twice their expected life. We test and retest, and find every fucking flaw we can before sending it out and saying its 'ready'.
But when it comes right down to it, and something NEEDS to be done, it WILL get done.
The F-22 dropping SBD's in syria, the first "bunker buster" bomb used in iraq, etc, etc.

SDB integration came with the F-22's Increment 3.1 upgrade:
https://theaviationist.com/tag/small-diameter-bomb/
which began being introduced in 2012:

I don't know if the Raptors that went to Syria were Increment 3.1 jets, but it's possible.
