meh, the famas has some pretty serious problems, like needing to use a special steel-cased cartridge or it'll rip the back end of the cases off.

the french have been thinking seriously about replacing it for a while now, the last time they started shopping around was 2013.

it's a shame, because it is a pretty cool rifle. silly snail-eating cunts shouldn't have wrecked their domestic small arms industry.

Suck my dick you faggot. I even saged that post. The reason we have so many firearms developments, especially recently is because we have the second amendment. If you go back to the 1800s in Europe, there were plenty of small arms manufacturers because they didn't have the ridiculous restrictions that exist now.

In 1789, france has a draft of one for their new constitution, it was Article X, but it hasn't been kept in the final document because in the discussion about it is said they believed the right to bear arms is self evident and no one will challenge it. So much for that.

Sorry for the autistic sperging.
Been on my mind lately..

One of my time waster/ hobby projects is making bullpup stock for my 10/22.
It kinda irks me they cost as much or more than the 10/22 itself and dislike the clamshell options on the market, the price should be neat a regular stock and as simple to put together.

This summer I'm thinking to get factory wooden stock to chop up and use as base then add wood to form a prototype.
Wood seems easy to work with and easy to get.
I dream one day I can provide a non clamshell drop-in bullpup stock.
Possibly real life replica scaled to 10/22 (OTS-14, L85, FAMAS, AUG, etc.) for like $50-$100 per unit, like a regular fucking stock.

This shitty frankenstein mock up is ots-14, VSS and FAMAS (I think I'm a slavaboo).
Too bad I live in commifornia and I can't get a suppressor.

Do you guy have a bullpup idea, project or gun dreams?
>>
>>30226858
Wasn't this in COD Black Ops?
>>
>>30228960

yeah you're utterly clueless.

the hard part isn't designing the thing, it's manufacturing it. any idiot can design a bullpup stock which is why there are so many of them. manufacturing them for an attractive price is the actually difficult part.

my advice: drop this inane fantasy. you can prototype it up all you like, I mean, everyone needs a hobby. but you will never make this into a real product, especially not one that costs $50.
>>
>>30228661

>>
>>30229124

not him but fuck you man. it is entirely possible to create an inexpensive fiberglass mold to create a plastic bullpup stock. if you have a small manufacturer who wont cost you an arm and a leg to create a mold and do backfilled polycarb injection it could be so simple.

YOU are clueless.
>>
>>30229152
>not him but fuck you man.

yeah I'm totally convinced.

why don't you actually research what's involved with this before spouting off, kid? you clearly don't have any idea what you're talking about, you're just sperging out because you're a retarded attention-seeking piece of shit.
>>
>>30228303
There is still a big contract in the air with the Frenchies looking for a new rifle. I know the Croatian VHS-2 is one of the contenders currently, alongside non-bullpup rifles liek the Scar and HK416. But if I am not mistaken, the wording about the contract implies that if no major advantages are found, they could stick with the FAMAS for the time being

How can normal rifles even compete?
>>
>>30227390
very. One of the reasons I bought it is because it has adjustable gas. Out of the box, I was able to get mine running like a swiss watch on 75% gas. Theoretically, if I did run into any issues, I have lots more gas to give it.

My only complaints are that the rifle is a bit heavy, it has like 1.5 lbs on my AR. oh also, I had to purchase buttstock extensions from keltec because the length-of-pull was too short for a tall guy like myself.

It's a great rifle overall, I'd recommend it to anyone who wants a compact 308 that takes widely available (metric FAL) magazines.
>>
>>30229152
I looked into fiberglass but feel like wood easier and cheaper.
I seen wood stocks go for $200-500.
Idk how much WA2000 cost.

He probably right about reproduction, but disagree with design.
Theirs about 5 options and all similar method.

A simpler designed kit with less part should cost less, would be nice to make and sell for $150 or less instead of a $300 clamshell kit or airshit.

Thought to share and others have something similar too.

Dont listen to this defeatist cum dumpster >>30229124 bullpub stocks don't cause inherent cost increases in production. Just compare the stock of an FN2000 to lets say that of an M14. Just look at the L85 and try to convince anyone that the entire stock cost more than the machined lower of an AR15...

Design is key but you want to design your stock around whatever large scale production you later on intend to use i.e. see what the limitations of c&c machining wood and steel has as opposed to casting with plastic or using stamped metal.

Also if you want to stick with wood for the time beeing or in general look into airgun stocks. There is a large market of custom stocks especially for various bullpub models and a large community that is eager to shar their prototypes and techniques of production especially in russia as you by your own admission are a slavaboo.

He's right one thing any idiot can make one, a trigger unit, two piece stock and 10 screw.

There's no reason to have more than 2 screws and factory takedown screw.
Already have a trigger concept, just need factory stock and add necessary wood then shape it and tweak it.

Only issue I see is the safety.
School has a large 3D printer, maybe sneak it in lol.

There are actually more than two rifles in the world, by the way. Most of them are not made by FN. Legitimately sad that you need to have this explained to you.

Bond Arms bought the company this year or late last year if I remember correctly. I think they put nicer grips on them too. Idk if they improved the reliability with ammo types though.

How does the bolt physically move far enough behind the mag to strip rounds?
>>
>>30235635
not many people actually know, but it has to basically be a tilting bolt that allows the cartridge to be fed, probably by a long extractor on a rod. The extractor would pull the new round into the chamber without the bolt having to move behind the cartridge.

but man I donno it's some sort of russian space magic

What are the main disadvantages of a bullpup rifle, afaik they arent going to replace concentional guns any time soon
>>
>>30241204
the main disadvantage is that they're all garbage
>>
>>30241204
Mainly that people train on a conventional rifle so reloads can be weird, and secondly because the trigger on bullpups has historically been shit.

The second one is quickly becoming a non issue, the first has always just been a teaining issue.

The biggest reason they really aren't dominating the market or at least even with conventional rifles is because people think "thats not normal so it cant be good".
>>
>>30236776
i think its hot senpai
>>
>>30241369
reloads are piss easy anyone who sais otherwise is literally unable to use their arms and has never used a bullpup for more than 4 fucking reloads
>>
>>30241369
The biggest reason they aren't doing well is because they all cost dramatically more than a comparable AR-15 despite being functionally equivalent.
>>
>>30239511

>>
>>30241605

I've never worn operator gear, but I do own a bullpup and I imagine it would get awkward to reload while wearing armor with gear on top of it. Can anyone with relevant experience testify for/against?
>>
>>30241810

Don't be salty, the ergonomics are absolutely disgusting and there's only a plastic shell between your mouth and the action of a Chinese rifle
>>
>>30241810
QBZs are garbage. Their build quality a shit and their triggers are bad even by bullpup standards.
>>
>>30241810
Hey, that's my gun.
>>30241833
>>30241842
Build quality is pretty damn good for a Chink gun. Even the plastic/ploymer shell feels closer to my Glock than airshit.
Sights are just so shit, though, and while it's comfy to shoulder, the control locations are so fucking dumb. Trigger's pretty good, too, for a bullpup, I dunno what you guys are on about.
