Hey /k/ so I just bought this Revelation Model 120 for $20. Is it basically a Marlin 60? Also how the hell do you adjust the rear sight? Can I keep the bolt open or should I just jam an empty casing into it? (For range safety reasons)

lift the tab, and slide the rear fin. Sights aren't really marked for distances.

you should be able to manually lock the bolt back
its a little fiddly but you pull it back and push the charging handle in

First, probably needs a good cleaning. There should be an arrow (<--) stamped into the charging handle. Pull bolt back and push in on handle to lock bolt. The rear sight is classic .22 rifle. Drift for windage, stepped wedge for elevation. The wedge is probably missing. Can find replacement almost anywhere.

It IS a Marlin Model 60. Revelation = Western Auto (yes, a car parts store used to sell guns!). Basically, companies like Western Auto and Sears purchased firearms from companies and sold them under their own trade brands. They were cheaper than the "commercial" models and sometimes might have used cheaper wood (but not always), but otherwise were identical guns.

For $20 you did fine. Parts by themselves aren't cheap anymore, especially on older specimens. Ya did gud.

This is now a Marlin 60 thread, the best little .22 semi auto rifle made.

Yeah that was great price. Check the nylon recoil block. Frequently cracked. Depending on the age and since you don'r have the LSHO I would guess it's late '60s or early '70s. You probably have the old style feed throat and ejector. If the gun functions fine you are good to go but if the feed throat is worn you need to change it over to the new style. need some parts and some fitting but it's doable. These are great "tinker" rifles if you have a modicum of mechanical skills.

And make sure you clean the fucking gun!

I bought one of these a few years ago. 1971 serial, bought it from the original owner's son. So much fucking gunk when I opened it up, shit gave me a headache. Enough shit to make a couple of marbles out of it.

But they are good guns, and I'd recommend everyone have at least one tube fed .22 in their arsenal.

For the newer style feed throat and ejector, this is the only adjustment gauge you will need.

God damn I hate Revelations rifles. They are the mose jamtastic things I've ever shot
>>
>>30218761
Yeah. The get a bad rap as jammers. That's why I can buy them so cheap. A little cleaning and adjusting goes a loooong way. +10 on tube fed. They are great for taking into the woods. just don't bang it and ding the tube. Hard to fix.
