All big box corporate gun stores are shit.

Fudds constantly butthurt over having to work retail exercising any sort of power over others at every opportunity.

I don't know what issues you have at Cabela's, but for reloading needs it's pretty based. For guns I only go there to finger guns so I can buy them online and transfer them for like $200 off. Don't know if you can do that in Canada though.
>>
Ive never not had to show my rpal. It doesnt matter if its canadian tire or the lgs, i always get checked. You have just been super lucky, or you frequent places enough that people recognize you and quit asking.

I've never had a bad experience at the Cabela's here in Delaware. The gun dudes all seem super interested in the hobby and promoting it to others. There's this fat dude from somewhere down south and this Australian ex-pat in the gun library who are always cracking jokes and completely willing to B.S. about all the cool guns in there.

I bought an AR and a Safe there recently for a decent price and their ammo is almost always close to internet prices without the hassle of shipping.

I would definitely go to cabela's before any of the gun shops around me. Not that those are bad, but cabela's is just so laid back.
>>
>>30194547
all big sporting good stores are cucks like that, they like to make up their own policies more strict than the laws in order to appease the cuck states
>>
It's not Cabelas. It's just Canada....
>>
My only complaint with Cabelas here is that they were the first the jack their prices when the Canadian dollar took a shit. I get why they did it, but it took another few weeks for other retailers to do the same. The price of their firearms are also guaranteed to be higher unless there is a sale.

Their prices for reloading equipment and components were competitive though.

Springfield, OR...

Cabelas can (sometimes) compete with Bi-Mart prices on 9mm and 223/556 and theyre the only place around that has x39 for a good price.
They also have good deals on pmags.
Once in a blue moon they'll have a good deal on the used-rack.
Also, they've recently gotten in FUCKtons of .22lr for reasonable prices.

Otherwise, its just a place to fingerfuck guns and ogle expensive camping gear.

One of the very few good things gun owners up here get is that their firearms license acts like a FFL so you can buy guns online and get them mailed straight to your door. For private sales all you need to do is make sure the buyer has a PAL. If it's a handgun/restricted license then you have to call the provincial firearms office and get them to transfer registration.

>you can buy guns online and get them mailed straight to your door.

Man, that must be nice. I've often thought about getting an FFL for side work/convenience but i need to do more research on all the bullshit i need to do to get one. The ATF wants proof that i'm doing it for a "business" purpose and god knows what else.

Someone in one of the australian threads said that before the 1996 ban you could order guns straight to their doors, but now (of course) those days are over. I shed a tear every time i'm in an australian thread.
>>

Yeah I found some RAS x39 at cabelas a week ago going for 3.99 a box. Only bought 10 though.

i work at one here in the states, and its typically a legal thing, if you had a mag in your pocket and started shooting the second it was in your hand, the company could be held liable, i work in the the back loading safes and shit, and i'm not allowed to give people rope in case they decided to hang themselves with it later

I manage at a big box store in Canada. It's unfortunately store policy to ask for the PAL for even showing guns. I'm guessing it's Cabela's policy, as well.

Any Ameribros been to the Cabela's in Oklahoma City?
>>
>>30195360
Sort of related, but I'm in Michigan, and every time I drive outside Windsor, ON to visit my mother (she lives in Belle River) every fucking truck has a Buck Mark on it.

Also is there another Cabela's within driving distance? Because the ones in the US attract people from hours away.
>>
>>30194547
Same thing with wholesale sports

I only go to the small time dealers these days, it's weird that stores that deal exclusively with firearms don't give a shit if you have a license on you.
>>
The Cabela's in Buda, TX (20 minute drive from south Austin) has always been great for me. They let you handle any gun you ask for without buying pressure and if you decide to purchase something they're really cool about the 4473 process. My FFL charges $20 per transfer but they are the most anti-social gun people I've ever been around. If I'm stuck filling out paper work and waiting for 10-20 minutes I like being able to chit chat.
Also, the guy I bought my first gun from at said Cabela's still works there and when I got my SD9VE (poorfag student) he colunteered to leave the gun counter and do my checkout to see how my Benelli was treating me and how school was going. And his name is Guy, so that's cool too.
>>
>>30195511

Esquimalt or Victoria are obvious choices. VFGPA is a pretty good club as far as membership goes.

All their new guns are priced through the roof, but their used guns are all the fuck over the place. I saw a beat-to-shit Hi Power last year for $600 when AIM had them for like $400 in that kind of condition, but you can get used .40 caliber HK's all day long there for $550-650.
>>
>>30194547
Every gun store that allowed you to handle a firearm without your licence broke the law.
>>
>>30195514

the stores aren't the money maker, the corporate bigwigs just put them up to attract people. the real reason they want you to come in is so you'll sign up for the club visa card. its a pretty classic bait and switch i suppose, you come in looking for some gun shit and get harassed by at least 3 people about the card before you even make it back to NICS. they pretty much demand we get a certain number of card referrals a day, they got so aggressive about it at my location that we had to lay off of em for a while because people were starting to avoid us because they were sick of hearing about it

i've done something similar, if you show them a sale on their website they have to match it in store.

So i just show them something similar and i get around 60% off whatever one item i get. The cashier is always like "eh ok" and gives discount.

>>
>>30198424
When I still lived in Windsor our only gun store (General Gun & Supply) didn't, but then again they also taught PAL classes so I think the logic was it was OK to let people handle different handguns and see what they like so they know before getting their license.
>>
>>30198748
Seriously how do people forget their PAL? Is it not in your wallet with everything else?

>I didn't bring it today because I wasn't thinking of buying right now

You probably carry that conceal carry license because you carry everyday. There is no reason for me to carry my PAL everywhere I go unless I'm specifically carrying my guns around or planning to go to the gun store to buy something. Because we can't conceal carry in Canada, there is no reason to carry guns around everyday, therefore it would be pointless to carry around a PAL everyday.

Things I do to avoid getting out of the credit card spiel:

>pretend to be underage
I've brazenly told a woman I was fifteen years old (though I was 20 at the time) when she tried to get me to sign up for a credit card. Minors can't sign for shit, so I was a lost cause to her.

>pretend to be deaf
I've discontinued this one on the off chance they knew sign language or they carried paperwork around, but it stumped a few of them.

>spoke in another language
This one was my favourite. I can speak three languages and dabble in several others, so it's fun to watch them react when I don't speak English.
>>
>>30194849
Canadian gun laws are funny. On one hand, I can own a 10.5" barrel AR without a tax stamp, but one the other I can only shoot it at a range and I need a special license for it.
