This is the Universal Carrier
>>
>>30183578

does it carry universally?
>>
>>30183697
no
>>
>you will never operate with Stens, Brens, and Lee-Enfields out of a UC

Britain had some good shit going on.
>>
>>30183727
It also mounted other machine guns like the 1919 or Vickers as well as anti-tank rifles and mortars.
>>
>>30183786
The big thing here is not getting killed by artillery or hosed down by a machine gunner on the way to the fight.

As typically happens to people who ride to battle in jeeps.
>>
>>30183578
I have been debating buying one but lack the expertise to maintain it, I can get one for £12-18k but I certainly cannot afford a specialist mechanic to do the maintenance on it. Though Cheaper I can get a ferret which I can deal with since I know nothing about tracks.

>>30183817

the machine guns I get, but by the time your position gets called in to artillery how could they possibly have a hope of hitting you if you're on the move, much less able to maneuver as you please?
>>
>>30183578

I've always called it a Bren Carrier.
>>
>>30183578
I got to drive one once. A WW2 Bring-back was restored for the 100th Anniversary of the Regiment, met the RWO a few years back on a Saturday and we got it running, did a few laps of the hangar and outside. Handled like a boat, and I found I was way too tall for it.
>>
>>30184482
I'd seen one in a field. Still had most of the original paint and looked easily restorable.
Moved for work and by the time I got back to discuss buying it the farmer had sold and the new owners scrapped all the old vehicles on the property.
>>
>>30184435

That was one of its names, yes
>>
>>30183936

I think the Ferret is cooler, also more useful if you were ever in the sort of situation where an AFV comes in handy.
>>
>>30184536
The ferrets probably more useful but cmon. A tracked armoured vehicle to hoon around the bush in. Likke your own convertible style weisel

And this is a schwimmwagen.
It's amphibious, too!
>>
>>30185065
Gorgeous!
>>
>>30184990
How the he'll does that one wheel at the front steer that thing
>>
>>30184367
they could probably call local mortar fire down on your ass pretty quick if its been pre sighted and it doesnt have to hit you directly theyll be enough shrapnel flying around where youd be ready to leave pretty quick
>>
>>30186183
The tracks acceleration is linked to the steering "wheel"... like a halftrack .. if you turn right the left track speeds up
>>
>>30186194
In the deliberate attack, one of the considerations is the weapons the enemy can employ.
If you are going against an enemy with artillery or mortars you plan to avoid the spots you would have registered, dead ground, reverse crests, intersections, creek crossings and such where possible or incorporate your own deception plan to use the enemy fire to increase confusion.

Corps training notes, infantry, the deliberate and hasty assault.
>>
>>30184435
If it had a bren mounted to it then yeah. But generally is a universal carrier. Like how a sparrow us a bird but a bird isn't necessarily a sparrow
>>
>>30186227
Not quite.
Shallow turns just use the front wheel, once you steer harder (i.e. past a certain point) the track steering kicked in.
>>
>>30185065
>It's amphibious, too!
because it's essentially a bathtub on wheels
>>
>>30186693
The name is literally "swimming car"
>>
>Universal Carrier
>Cannot carry an over sized regular American and its food.
>>
>>30186820
>over sized regular

So which is it?
>>
>>30185065
I'm 80% sure that's a hot wheel and a Barbie house.
>>
>>30186183
It doesn't, you only need to blitzkrieg straight through

Does it carry universes?
>>
>>30184367
Shrapnel
Leading a target
General competence
>>
>>30186650
Of course, but splinter distances/beaten zones are quite big and if there's a lot of open ground/limited axes of advance having some form of protected mobility is vital
>>
>>30186833
Over sized is the American regular
>>
>>30185065
You meant to say it schwimms too!
>>
>>30183578
it carriers universally
