Have you shot a 10/22?
What did you start with?

AR-15
Large 9mm pistol (Beretta 92, CZ 75, Hi Power, Glock 17 or 19)

If you are older than 12 don't get a .22
>>
>>30170084
Glock 17 or 19
Ruger 10/22
AR-15

>Pistols are harder to hit stuff with so you might want to get a rifle so that you think its fun and feel good about yourself for hitting the target.

I got a mauser m48 as my first gun. It'll be great to an hero with

I'll make a point of laughing at you no matter what guns you have. 22lr is a great gun to have around regardless of first or 50th gun.

Btw, gtfo my /k/

if you can only afford one, get an AR15, it had mild recoil and won't spook a new shooter

but if you can afford a used .22 too then that will let you shoot way more for exponentially less, centrefire ammo is spendy!

All of them at once

only an idiot wouldn't recommend a .22. what are you going to shoot squirrels with ten years after the apocalypse?

A moist nugget is fine. It was my first gun and I had no problems. The recoil isn't too bad for a beginner. I do think bolt action rifles are better for a beginner. Anything over .30-06 or .308 might be a bit much. I think all standard issue milsurp rifles are okay for beginners.

Ruger 10/22, Mosin Nagant, 1911, AR-15, some AK variant/subvariant, etc.

To introduce a casual shooter to shooting I recommend a Ruger American Rimfire. Same as introducing a kid to the game.

Shooter gets to use basic irons, has an adjustable stock. adjustable trigger, can can mount a cheap scope to get experience in sighting in and scope shooting, can add a bx-25 magazine for long plinking sessions, is not too expensive, and is benign looking to put nervous family and friends at ease.

Best thing is that ammo is cheap.

Marlin XT-22 and Savage Mark II are just as good, and cheaper.
>>
>>30170151
Marlin model 60
>>
>>30170151
I would say Marlin model 60 or a Marlin 795, but 10/22s are good too.

Thirding this.Started off on it myself too. Cheap(ish) ammo, simple as fuck to understand /maintain/service, and still can be found for well under 200.
That being said, if you save up for something like a Savage Axis, you're getting a much better rifle, albeit with less "story" and history behind it.
Ruger 10/22 or a Marlin 60 would honestly be better, since
>lighter recoil
>super-cheap ammo
>Only a little more than a nugget if you get it used and know where to look.
>probably more accurate than a nugget
>non-intimidating, meaning you won't develop a flinch and/or you can /k/onvert people with it much easier
>isn't associated with unwashed manchildren who made an investment based off advice from a Mongolian dog-grooming forum
>you won't be tempted to use the bolt as a prostate stimulator EVERY TIME you look at the damn thing
>better quality

All in all OP, it should boil down to what you're into. You should get a gun that fits your financial situation (cost of gun/ feeding it/ spending money on accessories just because), but also one that YOU"RE EXCITED ABOUT taking out to the range. If you get bored with it, it will just turn into another phase, albeit a potentially expensive one. It should be fun and begged to be shot whenever you look at it.
Pic related. An SMLE and matching M1895 Pith hat are my next purchases.

Not one mention of GLOCK 19.

Can be nightstand gun, can be your ccw, and good enough for seals to go to war with. No safety switches to fuck up. Easy field strip. 9mm low recoil for newbies, cheap ammo to get gud.
