Well my job fucked up, big time. I'm on workers comp now with a back injury, and they are withholding treatment after treating me since august 2015. Got an attorney, said I can make about 100000$. Anybody know how much some milsurp vehicles would cost? How about top of the line weapons? What would /k/ do with 100k?

I'd invest it because I'm not a retard, and that kind of windfall will dissapear in the blink of an eye. Especially if it really does affect your ability to work.

Maybe one really nice rifle like a Scar or gucci AR, and a nice Sig or similar. Should leave plenty of change from $5k for ammo and accessories

I'd use a few thousand on escorts and save the rest.

minus the $60k that the lawyer will take.

Priority 1 is get the fucking money. Don't spend it all in your head before you have it. you don't know what expenses you are going to have.

Next step, put it in the fucking bank and don't blow it. This is your payout, probably the largest windfall of your life. You need at least 6 months, preferably a year of living expenses saved in cash.

After that, you need to put some money aside in non liquid assets, like an index fund or a Roth IRA.

Don't buy some stupid shit. If you want to splurge, set an amount, like 5% to 10% MAX on stupid shit. And I mean total. That means trips, eating out, guns, computers, shit like that.

If your back is seriously fucked you might not ever work your job again. If you've been out of work for almost a year, imagine what if you don't work for 5 years? How fucked will you be then?

If you are going to buy a weapon, at least buy something that will appreciate in value.

Priority one is to have at least 6 months of emergency cash.

Solid advice here ITT, op.

I'd likely buy whatever I wanted up to 5-10k (assuming you get all 100kand not like 10k after fees and taxes.

Treat yo self then invest or at least save.

Listen to this. Use that kind of money to make your future better, because it won't happen again.

Few things to consider.

First of all, which has been mentioned but I will repeat it anyway: your lawyer is going to be taking a cut of whatever you're awarded. Assuming you get 100,000, that means you now got 80,000.

Second, if you're shooting for 100,000 accept that you might not be getting an award for a full 100,000. A judge might award you 80,000, or depending on your employment agreement this issue might go straight to arbitration because employers hate going in front of juries. Arbitration is more favorable towards the employer whereas litigation in front of a jury is likely to your benefit. So an arbitrator might make you the prevailing party, but limit the amount you are awarded.

Third, you might lose. I do not know your situation, the laws of your state, or the details of how you became injured. I cannot give you legal advise, and nothing said here should be considered as such. If you lose, those attorney fees are going to hurt unless your attorney takes the case on contingency and is willing to eat the cost of his fees in that event. Don't count on it. And if you're really unlucky, you may be forced to pay attorneys fees to your employer if they are the prevailing party. This is an extreme scenario, but keep in mind that such things are in fact possible.

How well detailed is your injury? Is it well documented when you became injured and how the injury came to be? I assume your injuries were evaluated by a medical doctor who determined that the injuries occurred as a direct result of a work place injury. If this is the case, that will be helpful.

Keep in mind that legal proceedings can take a lot of time. Your best hope if your financial situation is dire is that your employer realizes they erred up and offers you an out of court settlement for the full amount.

Tell us about your injury, what state this happened in, and about your employment contract, ie (is there an arbitration clause, a max amount they cover for injuries, etc)

This. Getting 100k is a pittance in exchange for a potentially work-ending injury, you need to redefine your mindset. Because that's not "payday!" it's "enjoy stretching this out over the rest of your life".

You may also need to use it to get an education in a field that a back injury won't keep you out of (computers, or whatever).
