I made the gun from a kit, and did the paint job today. Welds could be a little better, but it was my first time welding when I made it.
Made the kit last summer, painted it today because I'd stripped the old paint off it, and it was rusting like a mother fucker, and I needed a Friday project.

It shoots exactly like I would imagine a real Mac 10 would shoot. Like shit. Fires every time and seems really reliable, but the sights are for shit and the gun weighs 6.5lbs and awkward as fuck to hold so it makes target practice a little whack.
It's just a fun gun to show to your gunbuddies when they come over. Everyone always wants to shoot it.

Forgot to add, I could fix the welds, but I was/am nervous how deep the welds penetrated because like I said it was my first experience welding something, and i welded stainless to mild steel, just nervous how well it would hold if I fixed it.
Although I guess it wouldn't matter since I rarely shoot it anyways.

Keep at it though, you'll get better at indefinitely
You can modify technique or whatever down the line but generally look at some of michaelcthulu's gaint sword build videos, good time waster and pretty interesting to watch.
He'll mention though that welds in general are really tough, even small welds. I do though get the dif. between swords and guns though, so being sure isnt a bad thing.

That's a mac11 though, I specifically wanted a mac10. When I was looking for kits on cobrays website it would have been over $700 for an assembled upper, lower parts, and then a receiver.
And my main problem with them was at the time they didn't sell unassembled receivers, and I wanted this gun off the books, maybe they sell flats now?

I always confuse mig and tig, but I did non wire fed on the kit. I've gotten better at welding now. I sometimes do it on my breaks at work.
