Nice. I'm doing a dedicated 9mm build right now, I'm thinking of doing a 5" barrel and a 4" Samson quad rail and direct threading my Tirant onto it, but I'm worried that there won't be enough of the barrel sticking out from the rail to attach it. (samson ID is smaller than Tirants OD)
I could go with a 5.5 but then there is a little more of the barrel sticking out than I would like. Plus, 5" barrels are hard to find; and the Adco one I have eyes on is about twice the price of the 5.5" barrels I've seen.

If I was doing a direct thread suppressor I'd go with a rail that would fit it for sure. I really like this rifle, but I hate that I've got to dick around with the rail whenever I need to remove my comp.
The Adco barrel I hot was from a few years ago before the started Nitriding them. I've been really pleased with it, but I don't know that it's worth the premium.
Thought just occurred to me that if youknow someone at a machine shop you might be able to have them bore out the first few inches of your rail to accomodate the suppressor.

I've been running into an issue with finding anything big enough to go around it. The tirant is a big bitch, 1.38in. Only one I've found is some cheapo chinese Quad rail available for as low as $23 shipped. I'm pretty certain my other AR has a 15" keymod version by the same company and once it's on, it's solid. However it's really, really fucking ugly.
I also plan on running it with just a thread protector when not going suppressed.
Milling it out would be an option, but I don't know anyone. Also, that would only be necessary if I did go with the 5in barrel. The 5.5" would have more than enough clearance, but I would like it to be more flush with the end of the rail.

Alright, because I know what its like to not be sure, here is a pic of another barrel that Adco cut and threaded for me. Looks like the distance between the crown and base of threads is around 5/8". If your rail is really 1" from the crown of the barrel (4" rail and 5" bbl) you should have 3/8" to spare when fitting your suppressor to the barrel.
This assumes that they do their threading consistently (this is their 1/2 x 28 barrel threading)

Aw shit, good point. Just measured mine, and you're right. The barrel extension does eat up just about 1/2" so scrap what I said. If worse came to worse I guess you could use a belt sander, band saw, or cut off wheel and file to remove that extra amount. Though I think you'd still be better served getting a rail with the correct ID.
Damn. Well, thanks for measuring stuff out for me. There really aren't a whole lot of 4" rails out there with an ID over 1.38. I suppose I'll go with a 5.5" barrel; that will give me 3/8 of an inch of clearance when the can is threaded on. That's pretty close, and if I don't put on a muzzle device it'll be pretty close to flush.

I loved shooting the M9's. So that being said I think you'd really dig the FNX. The 4 grips it comes with is really two different types of grip and each of those has either a rough or smooth back. I quickly found the one I like and have no intention of using the others.
I paid $1099 out the door and think it was totally worth it. Plus if you ever want a can or one of those red dots its good to go. (I never plan on using a dot, the irons are great, and I can see over my can with them just fine.

Not the guy you are asking but I have an FNX45 also. Easily the best fuddy-fah I have ever owned, and that includes several 1911s, a USP 45, and a couple of 2nd generation S&Ws.
Tames recoil like a motherfucker, great full ambi controls, lots of capacity, mags are bulletproof, everything easy to reach super ergo.
The only issue I have ever had is some heavy cast lead stuff would fail to feed every few rounds. Never had that problem with jacketed anything or SD ammo so it doesn't worry me.
People say it is xboxhuge but it really isn't especially compared with a USP.

TBF, my hands are massive and single-stack 1911's do not feel right to me.
That said, I've never shot one. Come next weekend I'll have the opportunity to fire my friend's skinny Dan Wesson 1911, and will be my first time with .45.
Same friend used to have pic related .40S&W Para-Ordnance double-stack 1911. That thing was cozy.
