Why doesn't anyone on /k/ ever talk about FN? Is there something wrong with FN's weapons?
No, it's just that FNH is a great company, and /k/ommandos can't find something wrong with them, so they don't talk about them too much, except for the scar.

The FNX .45 unfortunately doesn't have thick a enough magwell. Other than that it's a pretty great gun.

on /k/ we talk about problems with guns: FNH guns generally don't have a lot of problems
also we do talk about some FN firearms- go to BRG

not usually. the Hi-Power and the FAL are outdated but for thier time they were great weapons.
the M4 that FNH makes for the army is pretty good.
the SCAR 16 and 17 are god-tier guns, very reliable, accurate, and good controls.
the FN line of pistols is good. I like the FNP a lot, their 9mm striker fired is fine. It might melt but I dont know if that's just a meme. The FiveSeven is a neat gun
the FN2000 and the p90 were cool as fuck, and worked well too.
all in all FN is one of my favorite firearms companies, despite me not owning any of their firearms (unless you count a PSA CHF barreled m16A4gery that has an FN barrel) FN is the continuation of our lord and savior John Moses Browning, making good guns for reasonable prices, and I hope it stays that way

I don't give a shit about striker fired pistols anymore. It does its job perfectly and every other pistol is just more of the same.

They don't make the FAL or the F2000 anymore, Few people can be bothered with their 5.7 range or their frankly pointless semi auto LMGs. That just leaves the FNAR and FNX series, which nobody gives a shit about and the SCAR, which has an excellent reputation and therefore cant really be shitposted about. Basically, while being an good company, they're not a very exciting company so they don't come up much.

I have three guns made by them, one Belgian made BHP (Mk III), one Belgian made Browning Semi-Auto .22, and one US made FNX-45. All are fantastic firearms.

Does anyone know why they haven't released a P90 style weapon in 9mm? Does the nature of the mechanism make it unsuitable for pistol caliber rounds?

Also, every SMG is basically obsolete because SBRs do it better with better penetration.

As far as I can tell, the SCAR 17s and FNX-45 are superior weapons for their calibers because both guns are constructed to absorb snappy recoil and keep the shooter on target

Except the P90 is still in service and more than likely not gonna be replaced by SBRs since SBRs over penetrate in situations where you don't want to and are overall longer, heavier weapons with much less capacity. With he right ammo the P90 is a great overall PDW.

That and the fact they don't market at all (except the SCAR). Take the SLP. That's a fantastic auto shotgun and yet almost no one knows about it. Or their bolt guns, built on the famous Winchester model 70 action, which are great as well.

Holy hell this. Their social media presence is a complete joke. There is zero interaction with the commercial customer base and they still invest 90% of their marketing budget on TV and print ads.
It's somewhat understandable though, like HK they don't actually need civilian sales to remain profitable. And to their credit they have pushed to offer a civilian legal version of nearly every military firearm they make.

So if your special snowflake gun gets special snowflake ammo and is therefore better why can't I give my SBR hollow points and arrive at the same conclusion?
SMGs are obsolete, yet still widely used due to them still existing and being cheap. SBRs do pretty much anything better. This does not mean "better in every single metric" it means that if you give one guy an SMG, and another an SBR, the SBR guy will probably generally come out on top. Also, in a wartime situation not having to supply an extra round to the battlefield is a huge plus. Logistics trains and stuff.

AP 5.56 is better than AP 5.7 by default because speed defeats armor and 5.56 goes faster because it's a larger cartridge.
5.7 was designed to create a pistol round that could get close to the AP abilities of a rifle round, not the other way around.

No, I never really thought it would be cost effective, .38 Special costs about as much as .45 ACP, so I usually just buy factory loads. Only pistol calibers I feel the need to reload are .44 Mag and .327 Fed Mag, but I still don't have dies for either of those yet.

I've found that I can put out a box of 50 for about $8.50. Cheapest I've seen 38 go for in my area is ~$18/box, so it's payed off for me to get the dies. I need to get some dies for my 45LC as well. That sucker is expensive to shoot factory.
