Canada's police become unarmed.
Canada's military is reduced entirely to SWAT levels of equipment. No tanks, jets, bombers, warships, etc.

What would happen?

Ignoring domestic weapons manufacturers blowing their shit, and NATO blowing their shit that its going to be a bit harder to arm or destroy some countries far off.

Nothing changes, America would just continue to take responsibility for Canada's safety so they can spend their defense budget on social programs for immigrants and women

Canuck here. This period of disarmament is not uncommon.

We did it before ww1, and when shit broke out we armed up to the teeth. When WW1 ended we went back to a state of disarmament. When WW2 broke, we did it again, When the Cold War started, we stayed well stocked. When the USSR collapsed, we stopped arming ourselves.

Canada only gets its shit together when there is a serious threat to world security. Until Arabs learn how to fight (HAHAHAHAHA) this will continue to be the trend.

Sure, it's embarrassing, but when you live next to a slave of the military industrial complex, what the hell is the point of arming yourself in peacetime.

We're the slave masters of the military industrial complex.
>>
>>30154922
what weapon platform do we even build?
i heard some armored truck where build somewhere in ontario but beside that? do we have any weapon factory?
>>
The LAAV series I think.
>>
>>30154957
well reading on it right now... we have a version of it produce here that can fire a Falarick 105 missile. The Falarick 105 missile can hit a target from 5 000 m and can perforate up to 550 mm of armour
>>
>>30154957
can also be fitted with
H&K GMG 40 mm grenade launcher
CRV7 Rocket System 70 mm folding-fin ground attack rocket
Javelin anti-tank guided missile (ATGM)
Hellfire anti-tank guided missile (ATGM)
... if for half the cost you can blow up a tank.... might as well
>>
>>30154957
i think our engineer are a little crazy or retarded... lets design the best air to ground rocket ("Canadian Rocket Vehicle 7") ... thats nice but what if we strap that shit on top of a LAVIII ? CRV7 are build at winnipeg

he 16 lb WDU-50001/B "Anti-Bunkerette" round, a semi-armor-piercing high-explosive incendiary (SAPHEI/HEISAP) warhead designed for use against reinforced concrete buildings, specifically hardened aircraft shelters. Its heavy steel shell allows the round to penetrate the hangar wall before the 75 g incendiary warhead is ignited.[7] The round can penetrate 13 ft of earth, 3 ft of concrete and 1 inch of steel, in series
one version of the CRV7

what about ADATS
>>
>>30155263
In September 2005, the Canadian Government and the Canadian Forces announced a modernization program, transforming the ADATS and associated command, control and communications systems into a Multi-Mission Effects Vehicle (MMEV). The MMEV was to retain and enhance ADATS anti-aircraft and anti-armor capability (85% or better engagement success rate) to meet new threats, provide indirect fire support to ground troops, and would be mounted on a LAV III wheeled armoured vehicle.
>>
>>30155286
You forgot to mention that the upgrade never happened and that we don't have ANY anti air ground units/systems now because they all got retired.
>>
>>30155945
In terms of priorities that seems pretty far down

Your absolutely pitiful Navy is much more important.
>>
>>30155971
Fuck the Navy the Air Force is more important
>>
>>30155980
Why don't you just buy some new F35s :^)
>>
>>30156012
We probably will, The Defence minister told trudeau he was an idiot and now we are holding a new acquistion plan that does not exclude the F-35
>>
>>30154943
LAVs
>>
>>30153182
>what would happen?
Literally nothing.

Nobody cares about you.
>>
>>30155980
Both are. Even if we don't have a sizeable anti air contingent, it's good to have a well rounded military that can take on any task given to us.
>>
>>30156235
I agree, Ideally we should be at 2% GDP military spending but that will never happen so might aswell replace what we use the most, US can focus on the Sea patrols ours can stick to coast defence,
>>
>>30156033
What's interesting is that despite the libtard promises of Trudeau , now that he's in power hes realizing that Harper left a legacy and that were gonna have to pull our weight around militarily, that's why he's going for the cheap wins in changing o Canada or having LGBT rights, shit that are mostly aesthetic but have little to no actual value for the country
>>
>>30153182
Canada would be an easier target for invasion, like say, American?
>>
>>30156281
Yup, And i bet Weed won't be legalized until after the next election so that he can use that as a prop again
>>
>>30156297
If America wanted to invade us we could do very little to repulse such an attack, it would be gulf war 3
>>
>>30154922
Don't worry Canuck, we Americans got your back until things go bad again. Although given we've totally forgotten the trick to winning world wars it might be on your shoulders to settle WWIII.
>>
>>30153182
Absolutely nothing.
Canada does not need a serious military. Geography is on her side.

There are two countries with serious armed forces geographically positioned to invade Canada. One is Russia, the other is America.

America doesn't want a drunken squatting hat. If Russia invades Canada, America will save the day.
America won't invade Canada in a war of conquest because it would mean dealing with Quebec. They've already got New Orleans, they don't need another ex-French area.

Personally I think Canada should give serious thought to restarting Avro-Arrow production. As mentioned before, they do not need a serious military, but they really need to get over the damage the loss of the Arrow did to the national psyche.
>>
>>30156373

Not to mention Invading Canada is essentially invading Russia. We have a lot of land to move about on and very few armies could be able to secure it.
