Correct me if this sounds wrong but I'm doing an m16a1 build.
I bought a complete upper receiver and now I need a lower. Would an Anderson arms lower with a2 stock be appropriate? Or do I need to buy a nodak lower and pop a lower parts kit in there?

Also milsurpdude, where can I find a bipod for the m16a1 like you have? The m60 one

but youre 17, how are you buying guns?
>>
>>30152440
i pushed the trigger guard roll pin in with the corner of my desk when i built my lower....

it's not hard you just need a punch for the bolt catch roll pin really. you'll need a stock wrench as well if you're going with a collapsible.

you can buy the detent tool for the front detent if doing it inside a trash bag sounds like a hassle, or you can buy a battle arms enhanced pin set, they go in really REALLY easily.

probably forgetting something..... but they're super easy to build
>>
>>30152451
any way to tell?
>>
>>30152440
You need knowledge bruh, watch youtube videos of people putting together lowers and decide for yourself which tools you need. Some guys have a special tool for every pin and part, others do the whole thing with a single punch and some household shit.

Note, youtube is terrible to learn about barreling your upper though.

Build a standard AR with a 16" barrel then later apply for your SBR as you never know if your CLEO is an asshole; AR pistol are kinda shitty because they're not designed to have the gas system fed so close to the action. Better to get a standard AR and see if you enjoy the platform then do all the legal stuff and get a new upper.

That area you are talking about is your barrel extension and debris in there will be fine. It sounds like your ammo is shit or you have a short chamber. What it sounds like is that your bullets are being seated into the rifling just from being chambered. Which is not good. That can lead to an over pressure and cause the weapon to detonate. Try a different ammo and if that dose not work you may need a new barrel.

Of course this is my thinking and there may be something different wrong with the gun.

These are all great suggestions and I appreciate them. Daniel Defense and Noveske in particular were names I had heard passed around but hadn't researched them.

I've also looked up Radical Firearms but can't seem to find much information in terms of reviews on their products. Online reviews/comments seem to be glowing, but those are easy to falsify, especially when we're talking about a rifle at that price point. I was wondering if anyone knew more about them and their reputation.

>You basically build your sbr how you want and then just put a pistol tube on it.

Not to sound like a fool, as I'm sure everyone enters firearms ownership for different reasons, but one of my primary concerns about my weapons purchases is their resale value later. I like firearms because, unlike most things/hobbies, I can recuperate my costs should I decide to slim down or upgrade later. So while I appreciate functionality and/or design, I also consider a rifles price later on. My main concern with the AR platform is simply how flooded the market is with them. But I still want one... so whatever hits the wallet the least in the long run is the best.

Eventually, you WILL know what you're talking about, and then you can be helpful and feel smug about it like the cunt we all are. But answering things you don't know shit about can be an inconvenience at best, or cost someone life and fucking limb at worst when you're dealing with firearms. Don't be a faggot.

Thanks.

I'm hoping it's the ammo, but again, not really sure how to tell what the problem is. Bought some new ammo, ran it through manually and they were still getting jammed. Might just be from feeding them through manually though?

And on the other hand, this showed up like 45 rounds first day at the range. First time owning an AR, but i was navy, so i've at least used them before and I feel like the gun malfunctioning after 45 rounds day one would be an ammo problem, but... dunno

Palmetto State Armory is the go to for /k/
Most of their shit can be had for cheap and for a bit more you can get some higher end shit. Like my SBR is a premium upper. Means I have a CHF barrel, Milspec Carpenter 158 BCG and a decent upper as well. Yes the market is flooded and will remain so till around election time. Then things will dry up and cost double.

Thanks, I actually have a friend who has a 16" Colt AR as well as a pistol, and I plan on firing both at least once before I decide to make a purchase.

I was considering a Ruger Takedown and/or a Mk12 Mod 0 clone, although I realize I may not be able to downgrade the Ruger to a Pistol, I'm not exactly strapped for cash so far as being unable to afford all three (though not so loaded to go buy them in one trip, let alone the same year).

hmmm, id say its an out of spec extractor. They're like $16 on Whindhams website. Try emailing them about your problems and you might just get one for free. Start with the cheap fixes first and then work your way to the more expensive fixes. Your extractor may be out of spec and not grabbing a hold of the casing properly. Drag your finger across the extractor and if its not SHARP then you probably need a new one.

you might want a spare firing pin and bolts do wear out but the bolt carrier is essentially indestructible if built correctly
if the gun fucks up, the screws are bad/ not staked then it will die but baring material defects the carrier wont wear out
>>

I wouldn't get any of the small parts for the BCG. If you're really worried about a catastrophic failure, get a firing pin, cam pin, and bolt. Magpul makes an insert that stores all that nicely in the grip. Is what I plan on buying.

if im not going for range but want a heavy barrel so heating up isnt as quick, would that be ok or should i just stick to standard?

i already bought a upper that is billet, should i get a lower that is also billet or is forged the way to go?

is a BCM BCG good enough?

so I have a YHM freefloat, like http://yhm.net/accessories/forearms/free-float-ar-15-tubes.html these, got it because i liked the grip, but after a while i'm starting to regret it because i started gripping the magazine well while shooting, and having such a short rail for mounting seems like i'm limiting my options a lot. I mean all i'd put up top would be a scope anyway, but still. Is there any advantage to those kinds besides looks?

I'd say most advantages are weight, durability of the metal used and the ability to attach things like vertical or angled foregrips, lights, etc... Let alone that most look better than the one you have chosen (no offense)

I personally don't think your scope should go past your upper receiver. But that is debatable.

All depends on your budget for the item you want.

with a heavy or bull barrel it will also take a much longer time to cool down that barrel once it is heated up. keep that in mind.

you should get a matching billet lower from the same manufacturer that made your billet upper if you want the features to line up. what brand is it?

bcm bcg is probably fine but you should try to source your bolt from the maker of your barrel.

>>
>>30154964
he's not wrong, the majority of the pressure generated in an ar15 is probably around 4 to 9 inches. the area under the hand guards basically.

if you cut the barrel short in this critical area the FPS will drop off DRASTICALLY.

however, if you have a 24 inch barrel and cut off the last 4 inches or even 6 inches the FPS loss is very minimal.

>>
>>30155087
>Twist RATE doesn't affect velocity but rifling(friction) does.
twist rate does affect velocity, use your brain. they're inter-related

if more of the energy used to propel the round is diverted to imparting a faster spin on it..... well then that energy isn't going to be used to propel the round forward is it? this is exactly why rail guns aren't rifled. there are other ways to stabilize a round other than twisting it. see 120mm abrams APFSDS rounds.

>>30155098

it doesn't matter what we're talking about. we could be talking about a basketball being fired from a pvc cannon.

energy used to spin a bullet can't also be used to propel it with equal force in both realms. unless you can prove me wrong, i'm fairly certain you will lose FPS with faster twist rates, it's a no brainer. not sure why you can't figure out the basics of physics there...

The original guy was asking if he should use a rear iron sight with his new ACOG for his A4 clone.
>>30155540
The other guy told him to get a USMC KAC sight or a 'stolen valor' sight.

This guy has a mental deficiency.

>with a heavy or bull barrel it will also take a much longer time to cool down that barrel once it is heated up.
But it takes equally as long to heat up, and will be less inclined to "wander" during that time. I've noticed it is quite difficult to get a bull-barrel that hot in a semi-automatic, unless you're mag dumping... but you'll get more mags out than with a standard barrel.

After all, it was exploding M4 barrels that got us to adopt the SOCOM barrel profile.

Yes business

I'm here. It's i5 guns in lacey
>>
>>30155845

>>
>>30155841
You're too young to have business
>>
>>30155857
gotta be proactive to get anywhere in this industry bb
>>
>>30155856
Been the bass pro once, it's huge.

I'm trying to decide if I want to go up to rainier arms here soon and buy a stripped upper. They don't have any of the other parts I want for the build however.
>>
>>30154984
You should be able to buy a full AR rifle though
>>
>>30155862
Good boy. I'd pat your head but then you might want a cookie too.
>>
>>30155874
Might stop by there on my way home. What did you decide on 14.5 or 18?

>>30155879
I'll just have the cookie
>>
>>30155887
Now you get nothing. You should buy your nigger dogs something while you're out.

Isn't the kmr around that? Same with MI
>>
>>30155924
The kmr is. I haven't taken a look at many of the MI handguards but I think I saw one I kind of liked.

Your kmr is also pretty damn comfy so that's an option
>>
>>30155936
