Rifle options are if its bolt action/lever action/pump it can be any caliber and as many bullets as it can hold/mag can hold
If its semi auto it can only go up to .22LR but again, as big as magazine can hold.
Pistols are illegal.

Well in that case, the best option would be a lever action rifle with a relatively high capacity. A .357 Magnum would be very decent. If you can't afford or wait for a rifle license, obviously a shotgun is better than nothing.

Just put mine together and its cool as fuck. Really easy to manipulate and it was a fun little project. Havent had a chance to shoot it yet and it might be horrendous to aim and control but we'll see.
Unless its absolutely impossible to control i think itll be my home defense gun until i can legally get a surpressor for a 300blk AR (fuck you illinois) since the longest hallway in my house is 10 yards and id rather shoot someone with buckshot than 9mm.

Yes. Im a paranoid bitch so i actually printed the letters off the shock wave technology website where the ATF states that barrel length is not considered for PGO shotguns just in case some ass gives me trouble at the range.
First, either make a birdshead grip or buy a shockwave raptor grip (30 bucks). To stay totally legal you need to have that before you get the sbs kit because you wont have a legal configuration possible for your short barrel if you get it first. Is that over-cautuous? Probably but im a poorfag college student whose life can be messed up real quick with a trip to club fed. If youre making your own make sure its as long as the raptor grip because you wont want to be shorter than 26" (AOW terrirotry)
When youre getting the gun itself, its best to get a Mossberg JIC in my opinion because theres no confusion that it has never had a stock attached. (If the receiver ever had a stock attached this would technically be making a SBS) i got mine for about 325 from grabagun. Im a lefty so i have no interest in 870s, they might be right for you and you can do this to them as well.
For a while the hard part was getting the 14" front end. In the last few months theyve been showing up everywhere thankfully. I got mine from grabagun for 210 i think. I bet you can find an 870 front end even easier.
Once you have it all the only thing left to do is put it together. Again, im only familiar with mossbergs but the hardest part was changing the mag tube (none of the front end parts on a regular gun work with the 14" barrel) heat it up on the stove to break the locktite and swap everything.
Im planninng on using my old front end to throw onto someone elses old duck hunting gun and then using that for competitions.
Any other questions feel free to ask. I love stuff like this that is a huge middle finger to the ATF so the more the merrier.

Eh theres positives and negatives to both routes. It really depends on what you wanted from it. Practicality wise the AOW is much better. In some commie states or to make a statement, the firearm is better. With the AOW stamp you can cut down the barrel as much as youd like without legal trouble, the firearm route means 14" is as short as you can go.
Can you take that across state lines without asking permission? I remember theres some NFA that you can and some you need to ask. The firearm way avoids that whole mess.
Whered you find that anyway? I feel like thats a steal for a 590a1 thats been converted to NFA.
