Battalion level edition. Could you equip a battalion sized element of infantry with copies of your gear? Would they be effective? What would the privates bitch about? How expensive would it be?

Im pretty sure everyone would bitch about tubes, and someone's going to rip their 6/12 webbing. I think everything else would be pretty well received. Saw gunners and ammo bearers would NEED a bigger belt.
>>
Custom gear options is basically Special Forces.

Clearly a standarization of personalised equipment doesnt work and that's why SF has relative freedom of gearing up.

It would be more effective than standard issue, but you can't get past the personal taste and allocation of stuff that will never work for everyone.

Repasting. I'm taking my kit out on a hike along with my MR pack today. Nice and light. I really, really love how light and balanced the belt feels now.

I'm be grabbing some new armor soon. I already have an IBA but my chest is too big to let me close the top, and a custom made plate carrier from a friend but it was his first attempt and it has no features or MOLLE. Pretty sure I';; either rebuy a PIG or a Mayflower.

No particular reason but I've been thinking about moving them after someone mentioned they should go on the belt in one of these threads. I have the pouches to put on a belt. I'm getting a new handgun soon so once I get more mags for that I'll mess with the placement a bit more.

I agree completely. It just makes sense to keep pistol mags with the actual pistol. As for the pouches sliding around I wouldn't use the ones on my chest rig. I have a few smaller ones designed for a belt. The belt also has velcro on the back for extra support.

Packages aren't usually held unless a delivery change option is made by the customer, or a delivery intercept by the shipper. Generally the 27 are is not particularly strong. You sure YOU didn't fuck it up?

Anyways, in 13 hours i will have access to the intranet. I may be able to upgrade your service level and redirect your package for local pickup in the roanoke 240-9 SLIC sat 8am local time at the latest. Obviously your tracking number would reveal your identity to everyone. But if you give me the shipper name and the last 4 digits of your tracking # you would only be revealed to me, any other authorized UPS employee, and/or motivated federal agents.

I can make no guarantees, though.

>>
>>30145244
I can't think of anything I've done that would have messed it up, all I've done is check the tracking number frequently. I ordered it Sunday, paid $20 for the 3 day select, Monday was a federal holiday, and it shipped Tuesday. I'd be more understanding if it got delayed until tomorrow, but why is it going to take 4 extra days to get three hours to my location?

Could you (or UPS) actually get it sent to Roanoke by tomorrow? That would be pretty awesome. The last four digits are 5338 and the shipper is US Elite Gear. Should I call UPS and see if they can get that ball rolling now?

Looking for a greyman/low profile non-tactical looking bag under $150-$200. Would like it to pull double duty as a school bag, so if it fits a 15-17" laptop it's a huge plus. I'll be moving around a lot so something that keeps in place with good straps is preferable.

Already checked out the Vertx EDC (closest to what I'm looking for), Maxpedition doesn't offer anything I like, and neither does 5.11. Anyone have any recommendations?
>>
>>30145859
Condor does not come with a source. That bladder is an upcycled gallon freezer bag and some fish tank tubing with a dasani sport top duct-taped to it compared to a source.

>>
>>30146485
Like >>30144909 said, it isn't. $20k is about right, $3k for NVG (not everyone gets thermals but let's assume this guy is special so that's another $4k), $1400 for body armor, $800 for the rifle with accessories, and that's all the big ticket items. The rest is misc gear.
>>
>>30146485
Oh shit. I misunderstood. I adjusted for 2006 because that's when the OP pic came out. As you can see, it's about $3,500 of inflation in the last ten years so I felt it was fair since I was adjusting for 1945 and 1968.

1. There is no such thing as MOPP 5.

>>
>>30146811
MOPP 5 is not a level. MOPP levels already include field gear.

>Can you guess why?

Because infantry is retarded? There is no practical reason to be rolling in MOPP 4 for days on end. Your suits will have degraded massively in effectiveness and had you been in a real chemical situation your protection would have been degraded to the point of uselessness. They'd be better off teaching you how to move in a chemical environment to limit contamination, use varieties of detection equipment, and set up/help with EPDS.

I was at a JRTC event where chemical weapons were a big part of the scenerio and infantry was wearing JSLIST almost the whole time and practicing battle drills with it. Absolutely retarded waste of time. It caused them to take shortcuts on protective gear which got them "killed" when they encountered simulated threats, and the simulated threats were often going easy on them in terms of judging suit soakthrough and expired, unchanged filters.

Unless you're wearing Tyvek and SCBA, you GTFO of a chemical area quick and in a hurry, not stick around and fight.

>>
>>30146951
Yes, it ruins your gear. If you are wearing MOPP 4 for days on end it degrades your protective levels. Doing battle drills in MOPP gear is the last thing you'd want to do in a chemical environment. I'm curious exactly what your detection and decon procedures were for unmasking to eat. Or did you just hand wave it?

>JRTC
Joint Readiness Training Center. Which is where units go to do their large scale full up training.

Not green. In fact I've actually been on real chemical incidents, so it's weird to have somebody who's primary job is not to deal with this stuff talk about it.

I'd wager you were in full protective mode for invasion force on force training. Which, to reiterate, is retarded. There is no reason to be masked up for that long. It does more harm than good to both troops and to gear, which will be worn out by the time you actually need it.

So I recently picked up an LBT plate carrier that says it fits medium or large sapi plate. I bought 1 large plate to gauge fit. Well the large plate fits perfect in the back but is seemingly a little too large for the front. By this I mean it sticks out the bottom by .5 inch. However there is about .75 inch room left at the top. The issue is that it seems slightly too wide to get all the way in (about 1/8th of inch on both sides) and gets stuck right were the PC cuts under the armpits.

So the question: Is the plate carrier just slightly too small (human/machine error) or am I supposed to jam the plat in so it is really tight? Or does M/L mean that one plate is supposed to be be Medium and one is supposed to be Large?

I dont think it is the last bit because the PC comes with 2 pockets on both sides. The primary pocket looks like it is designed to fit large plates and the secondary pocket looks like it is designed to fit small plates.

Any thoughts or advice?

Talking airsoft reproductions of modern tactical gear? It's crap. Those put all the focus on *looking* good, not being especially tough or using high quality materials (especially the stitches, Velcro, and elastic). Even high end airsofters just buy real shit instead of repro.

The reason chicom is so cheap is because it is mass, mass, mass produced and it's dead simple. No printed camo pattern, no MOLLE, no plastic parts. Just nylon and some wood tabs.

The next cheapest gear is going to be US surplus ALICE and then FLCs. Similarly, this stuff is cheap due to mass production and not paying a license on stuff like "operator" camo patterns.

Mostly true but not always. Pantac and Flyye make excellent products, priced between real shit and cheap repro, made of 500D or 1000D cordura, and pretty durable.
Also they look good, because they're accurate copies of what Paraclete and Eagle Industries make.

It would surprise you how much expensive gear I own and have used. Honestly, this cheap ass belt and setup are the most comfortable and lightest gear I've found. Some people get blinded by that conspicuous spending mentality rather than just using and adjusting the gear to themselves. The gear is there to help *you* operate, not do the operating for you. >even a fucking double mag pouch from condor (a company known for cheap ass gear) cost more than a type-56/81 chest rig
Is there something I'm not getting here? I can't tell if just about everything that isn't chicom is stupidly overpriced or if chicom is just stupidly underpriced.
Is a bit of velcro and some extra canvas for molle really worth about $80? Is chicom literally made out of paper or something?
I don't understand this pricing!
>>
>>30152004
chicom is love chicom is life
>>
>>30152004
Chicom is insanely low priced. This is because of the huge mass scale it is produced on and because the chest rigs are fucking simple. Most only have non-patterned cloth and a few wood tabs. Simple as fuck, and they have been made in bulk for literally decades.

Compared to Condor, which is a small, single company which makes gear in patterned camo, makes gear with a variety of materials (canvas, velcro, zipper, buttons, buckles, etc) in a single pouch, and which has to do more complicated sewing like MOLLE loops on front and the attachment straps on back. More effort intensive than chicom and done on a smaller scale.

Next to Chicom, the next most underpriced stuff is US surplus. For the reason that it has been made in insane bulk amounts for decades. US stuff is more expensive than Chicom because it has more complex construction and materials, but it's still cheap as fuck for what it is.

I've got an old pic of the pack's contents laid out, but that was when it was a dedicated BOB. Right now is just some core items:

>4-5 spare mags
>IFAK
>survival shit (trash bags, fire making, water tabs, etc)
>change of socks/undies
>hydration bladder
>misc shit like cord, lamps, multitool

Here's a close-up of the chest rig,
Little pockets:
>fruit snacks
>mini-IFAK (ppe, gauze, ace bandage, tape, antiseptic, AfterBite)
>cleaning kit (boresnake, bolt scraper)
>spare 10 round glock mag
>spare earpro
>baofeng BF-F8+
>granola bar

Big pouches:
>40 round pmag x2
>30 round mag x2 (pmag, USGI)
>33 round glock mag (9x19)
>eod robotics breacher bar/sheath

Glock 26 with the technaclip just kinda found itself a home

>>
>>30155907
If it sounds too good to be true..

It is cheap Chinese knockoffs with airsoft hardware and shady manufacturing. They probably sent a solid batch to the testing lab to get the nod and them shit out the cheap shit under the cert.

It is an expensive bump helmet, might stop some shrapnel, may stop a bullet without you dying. Is it as good as a legit US made ops core fast? No way.

>>30155907

It is also worth pointing out that the manuf. claiming a piece of armor is designed to pass NIJ testing is not the same as the piece of armor actually being NIJ certified. For example, velocity systems sells some armor plates that would pass NIJ level III testing, but because they are intended for the military which has its own testing protocols, they never bothered to get these plates tested by NIJ. Now Velocity Systems is a reputable company and their special-threat plates will stop some crazy shit like 7.62x39 API, but it's not uncommon for low end companies to make claims that suggest NIJ certification, when in fact if you look the plates up with the NIJ's list, they were never tested.

That's what I'm thinking as well. They seem to be like Browe Optics in that their helmets are sold for $1000 but they've got promo codes up for $300, which means that something's funky.

It's definitely not an Ops Core (it's about a pound heavier from what I've been reading), but at the same time it's also not a $1400 helmet (when the fuck did they up the price on that, by the way? They used to be cheaper than Airframes). Like I said, not looking to purchase one, but I'm intrigued.

This is also true.

What kind of situation are you envisioning in which you are going to carry a long gun and mags for it, but not wear any armor? For many people a situation that allows you to carry a carbine is a situation that allows you to wear a plate carrier.

I had a stroke and the wrote that up.

Because some people like their gear all together rather than split between a slick and a chestrig?
>>
>>30156314
Well, normal people stuff?

What, like going to the range? Then you can just wear some mag pouches on your belt, lets you get a better position in the prone.

in your pic the outermost pockets are already in your armpits. if you'd wear that nigger rigged chicom those pockets would be on your back. unless your are a really fat guy.
>>
>>30157290
what the fuck are you talking about. i'm wearing it on my rib cage, its not nigger rigged. its 4 cell chicom and is crooked in that picture. I'm not a small chinese dude.

wait do you mean this >>30148039

its a 10 pocket sks rig. its not supposed to all fit on the front of your chest.

i get it now. you are retarded and think that sks chest rigs are the same as type 56 chest rigs.
>>
>>30156204
You do realize you could just take the plates out of the plate carrier and use it as a chest rig if you don't want to be too heavy, right?

Holy shit guy. 5.11 (especially their sling bags) and Grey Ghost Gear are good starting places. Otherwise you would perfectly fine with a black or navy blue Jansport bag with a leather bottom.

Are all rigger's belts more or less the same or is there a standout? I'm thinking that and a holster and some mag pouches will be my first foray into gear stuff.
