I have always believed that the only thing that I need on my AR is a good optic and that is about it. I feel comfortable with it and shoot well with it, but the other day on a separate board someone was telling me I was doing it wrong and NEED thing like rail systems. Is that jackass right? Am I nothing but fucking new fag who would be first to die in the mole people uprising?

that said, why mount on the carry handle?
Not criticizing but i'm curious. i'd have gotten a set of flip sights and use them with in conjunction with an optic.

Wrong is an opinion buddy. I personally don't prefer optics mounted to a carry handle, but there is nothing inherently wrong with doing what works for you

Not OP, but mounting on the carry handle reduces the cowitnessing of the front sight with low or no magnification optics. Most people don't care. Some do.

Honestly, it was what I got used to because the first AR I ever shot was my dad's. He had used M16A2 when he was army so he got the closest thing he could at the time when he got out. He had has his mounted to the carry handle and that is what I got used to, it feels strange using optic anywhere else.

You can still use the iron sights, right? Kinda triggers my tism a little that you have the scope mounted to a removable carry handle, but that's the only way I can justify that shecanery in my head. But whatevs.

Yep, I can still use the iron sights with it. That is actually another reason I like it. Yes, I know you can do the same thing with other systems but again that is just how I like it. Flip sights and all that never set well with me.
