I've been in the military, I'm speaking not only through personal experience but simple observation, we lose in wars and competitions while spending hundreds of billions of dollars while our economy is dying. We have to start acting smarter, and one of these many steps will be cutting the FAT off the military, one could be making the standards stricter, so fatties and women will probably not be able to join it anymore.
Before you spew more dumb shit, I've made it clear that we have to do more than just cut military waste to fix out economy, but cutting a few hundred billion off that and say, putting towards infrastructure or education reforms is probably the better way of doing things than losing to poles at military competitions and wasting trillions or dollars and decades in the sandbox.

One standardized set of ranks.
Four branches. Army, Navy, Air Force and National Guard. Army is the offensive forces, boots on the ground, handles all ground based vehicles such as tanks and humvees and cannibalizes.
Navy is Navy, the Air Force is great for moving small amounts of forces quickly, but moving an entire army with Off Shore support needs boats, so they handle anything aquatic.
Air Force is air superiority and should split communications/technological shit with the navy as needed. The Army doesn't need it's own fucking set of Verizon guys to fuck around with satellites.
National Guard. Army but at home. Purely defensive boots on the ground force.
Then you make small sub branches, like SOCOM which handles ALL special task shit with recruits being trained to handle different ops. Make SEAL Team Six and Rangers just be guys who can inna woods or inna city and be exceptionally good at anti terrorism shit. Paratroopers just be search and rescue specialists. Et cetra.
Simplify, create one unanimous logistics chain, standardize everything as much as possible so there's less cross retarded bureaucracy and start investing the rest of the budget into shit like Space X so we can shoot each other in Zero G.
