Came home from work today to find my front door wide open while none of my people were home. I shut and locked all of my doors before I left for work this morning.
Grabbed .45 from car and proceeded to enter my house. Pupper (pic related) was unharmed and happily wagging tail inside the kitchen.
Fucking went through the whole house and found nothing. Nothing was missing or out of place as far as I can tell.
What the fuck guys?
You probably closed it 95% of the way, and the wind blew it open. Either that or a killer is in your walls waiting for you to sleep.

Maybe I'm just losing my mind. I could have sworn I locked that shit. In fact I'm almost positive.
It's a heavy door and hard to blow open assuming I forgot to lock the deadbolt. It has nothing attached to it and it opens to the outside, so the wind could not have opened it inwards, and pulling it outwards would have taken some seriously hard wind, which there wasn't today. It's a perfect sunny day with not a cloud in sight.
Should I check my attic?

Your front door opens outward? That means your hinges are exposed, where any tweaker with a rock and a screwdriver can have your door off in 30 seconds.
Check your hinges for signs of recent tampering. Then consider spending the $250 or so for a proper pre-hung entry door that swings inward.

My only guess at this point was that either one of my next door neighbor kids came over (parents have a key for when I go out of town) or some kind of spooky as hell cat burglar came in without any evidence of doing so and somehow left my front door ajar allowing it to open later on its own.

Neighbors were outside chilling as I came home. We made eye contact and waved. They definitely would have said something if they knew anything was up. Pupper is old and frankly quite dumb. She wouldn't be capable of reaching a door handle that tall unless there was some profound reason too, as if she were in danger or something. She doesn't paw at the doors or wall. I trained that out of her at a young age.

If you cut them or mess with them the door is still locked into the frame. Once the door is shut the pins lock together and those coupled with the deadbolt essentially lock the door in position.

Had a similar experience once. Got home from a week away and found the front door open. Everyone swore they locked it. Dad went and cleared out the house with a big lump of timber (lol ausfailia) and then we all went to sleep. The next day we recalled at the last second running back inside to get something, forgotten to shut it, and it had just been open all week.
