Planning on getting one or the other mostly going to be shooting in the woods and using it in a shtf scenario if I gotta
>>

sks you stupid fuck
>>
>>30086548
I notice that some people like to kit out their Sks with tapco stuff. Do you recommend this friend? Honestly it takes away from the classic look
>>
>>30086583
This isn't the same guy, but please, don't do that to your rifle. If you want something tactical get an AR or AK.
>>
Sks. Mosin is kill (ammo running out).

But you should build an AR.

AR is restricted to only at ranges and clubs in Canada
>>
>>30086498
AR or AK, neither the mosin or sks are worth the price point unless it's for a collection because it's a rare or interesting variant
>>
>>30086583
>tapco stuff
Bought one of the cheaper ATI stocks for mine, it's alright.

The stock my yugo came with was pretty banged up to begin with, so i don't intend on ruining it further when i take it innawoods.

I keep all it's original stuff though, in case i ever sell it. but i don't usually sell my guns.
>>
>>30086767
Mosins and Sksare dirt cheap in Canada and we don't have AK's cause the government finds them scary
>>
>>30086830
your choice should be between sks or svt then. fuck the mosin
>>
>>30086770
So do you prefer coors light or bud light?
>>
>>30086767
>mosin or sks are worth the price point
although they're less worthwhile now than they were, they're definately still worth it.

semi auto 7.62x39 rifle for usually less than 400? yes please.

same for a mosin. get one with an intact bore and you'll still get a sturdy bolt rifle in a cheap cartridge that's good for most things.

More like in the 100 - 300 dollar range in canada
>>

Majority of beer tastes like piss, and i don't drink hard liquor before 9pm except on Fridays. (which is today i just realized)

I understand you're calling me white trash because i made a non permanent modification to a cheap milsurp rifle. it's ok. but i've broken stocks before, and i certainly don't intend to do so with the original one for my SKS.

SKS hands down, you will enjoy shooting it more.

>Craft Brew
I'll admit, the only Craft anything i've consumed was some Root Beer. (it shocked me too, but it exists.)

Still though, i don't care for expensive wines, either.

>>30086859
Should I get a pu scope on it? Also generally what is the maximum engagement range for this compared to something like an AR?
>>
>>30086915
>More like in the 100 - 300 dollar range in canada

But you have half the capacity so you'd have to spend 200-600 for the same amount of rifle.
>>
>>30086498
Neither. Get an AR. Leave milsurp to collectors.
>>
>>30087496
>Canadian
Disregard. Get a Vz58 or a Chinese T97.
>>
>>30086726
What mang. I get 7.62x54 Red Army Standard and TulAmmo for 12.99 and 11.99 at my local Sportsman's Warehouse. They also have higher grain Sellier and Bennot for 21 or so. They always have some.

I believe there's a pin that you can remove but it's highly illegal from what I hear

throw in another $200 and buy a AKM.

the other 2 are collectors only now, no value whatsoever for outdated weaponry.

Oh but we have cheap sks's
>>
>>30087146
You probably won't be comfortable shooting at targets outside of the 200 meter range unless you're experienced at shooting at long range.
>>
>>30090005
Is 200 meters realistically far for a rifle like this?

yes, depending on the individual rifle
>>
>>30086498
if you can get a mosin for 150 or under do it, and if you can get an sks for 350 or under do it, the 300$ mosins are not worth it unless it is a super historic example and you are a collector. And a norinco SKS is not worth really more than 350, and I wouldn't pay the 450 of a yugo because at that point you are only 100$ away from a cheap AR. So between the two an sks from 350 or under in good condition would be better.
>>
>>30086726
>ammo running out
yes the surplus is drying up, it may be back and it may not. Depends on the political climate, but ammo is by no means running out. You can still buy new production stuff online for around 50 cents per round
>>
>>30086880
agreed, if a mosin is at the right price it is a good rifle to pick up. I got an 1946 M44 with a Remington contract bolt for 162$ after tax a couple months ago. I was surprised how accurate it was for a mosin, shot 4" groups at 100 yards the first time I took it out.
