What impresses you about the Russian military?

For me, it is the PAK-FA T-50!

Here is T-50-6! Newest prototype with engine cowlings to hide engine heat. Also new cheek array with radiation sticker behind the nose radiation sticker!

What about you?

IRST, and the PAK FA looks like the Russians want to say they're building a stealth jet, but don't want to actually bother with S ducts, not having rivets everywhere, seam taping, VLO nozzles, doing something with the engines other than bare metal, etc.

>>
>>30059099

there's no way a C model can handle a 129 motor. the -220 is plenty for them, not even the -229. the fully electronic FBW sidestick deal is cool, but not necessary as well. the upgraded displays would be nice, though. speaking as a professional WSO, having two large HD color displays to replace the MPDs would be a game-changer.

The fact that they can go to war with well-defined strategic objectives that don't cause them to bog down in a quagmire.

>Georgia, go in, capture key tunnel, slap people around, force surrender, leave
>Ukraine, nab strategic peninsula as cleanly as possible before anyone can react, set up a frozen conflict with just enough materiel support to stop Ukraine from pushing across the defined border
>Syria, provide air support to allies on the ground to take key urban centers, then scale back support to a skeleton crew used for harrassment of the enemy.

None of this "go in, occupy, attempt to secure hearts and minds, keep failing for 15 years while bodycount increases, public support wanes and money bleeds". They learned their lesson from Afghanistan, good on them.

At the headquarters of the armed forces in Moscow perhaps, but not done by the units in the far east. They only received their orders the previous day in that excersise.

The point of these snap drills is to check how the state of readiness is among the units stationed throughout the Federation. And that readiness seems to be very excellent indeed because the scale of those snap drills match or even exceed the scale of the drills held by the Soviet Union in the famous Zapad drills.

It is the result of applying the lessons learned from the 08-08-08 war in Georgia.

>You do realize none of those wars had the Soviets fighting at a 5-1 advantage as the original quote said. Jesus you fail basic maths, what else?
I didnt care about the 5-1 quote, I cared about the how they came off implying that the Russians/Soviets whatever you wanna call them, didnt lose or they didnt care. Essentially denying defeat.

>The only proxy wars they fought have so far have been in their backyard
So why are they obsessed with going to war? Why agitate the US/NATO? Putting the future of your nation in danger for what?
>>

Its more about Russia losing to lesser nations than the war itself, then claiming to be the baddest, toughest nation when they lost to upstart nations
>>
Russian military parades are pretty impressive. That's it.

>What impresses you about the Russian military?

Their advertising budget.

Aside from failing basic maths you also fail reading comprehension. Or maybe you are actually too good at the latter and start seeing things(this is very good skill to cultivate in English lit. class but not so much when arguing over a Buryat throat-singing forum) others can't.
Again, show me a direct quote where I dismiss those defeats.
>So why are they obsessed with going to war? Why agitate the US/NATO? Putting the future of your nation in danger for what?
Agitate how? You're the ones going to their neighborhood stirring shit up in the first place for stupid (read: idealogical) reasons. What do you want them to do? Roll over like the rest?

Senpai im not talking about directly dismissing defeats, Im talking about acting like it never happened and brushing it aside, something slavaboos here do alot with these conflicts. I mean I understand why, defeats for the largest country in the world make a track record look bad.

>Agitate how?
invading countries next to our allies and having a tradition of being land grabbers and quick to go to war?
>You're the ones going to their neighborhood stirring shit up in the first place for stupid (read: idealogical) reasons
Because were still a superpower, and we have spheres of influence to protect. Russia is a 2nd rate regional power, their sphere of influence is Belarus, Kazakstan and part of Ukraine.

I dunno senpai, hows Afghanistan and Chechnya?

They didn't. They were there to help facilitate a referendum regarding Crimea's status in an environment free from Kiev's intervention. In other words to help uphold the global order ushered in by the West in Kosovo. They're the good guys!

Again, reading tea leaves. I'll have you know this slavaboo acknowledge the fact of those defeats- nobody in their right mind can deny them anyway especially with all these countries existing.
>defeats for the largest country in the world make a track record look bad.
On the contrary they show that this or that country is made of much sterner stuff than ordinary.
>invading countries next to our allies and having a tradition of being land grabbers and quick to go to war?
The former Warpact are not your allies. They merely see you as another sponsor power, as they have the Germans and Russians (alternatively) before.
>Because were still a superpower, and we have spheres of influence to protect.
Ironically, having that much outstanding security guarantees ties your back, limits your options and even allows the tail to wag the dog. If that's what being a superpower means, i don't think anyone sane would want that.

>I'll have you know this slavaboo acknowledge the fact of those defeats- nobody in their right mind can deny them anyway especially with all these countries existing.
thank you

>On the contrary they show that this or that country is made of much sterner stuff than ordinary.
Exactly, thats how i feel Russia should do. You can either do 2 things when you take consecutive L's: 1.) drink fermented potatoes and pretend it didnt happen or 2.) Embrace the loss and be proud that your people are still alive and around to fight another day (Polish mentality)

>The former Warpact are not your allies. They merely see you as another sponsor power, as they have the Germans and Russians (alternatively) before.
Sure some might view us as the lesser of two evils but i feel Poland and Hungary view us as a good insurance guarantee of sovereignty in case Russia arms up for Warsaw Pact 2.0, as a genuine ally who wont turn on them

>Ironically, having that much outstanding security guarantees ties your back, limits your options and even allows the tail to wag the dog. If that's what being a superpower means, i don't think anyone sane would want that.
Yeah thats a good point, but thats the way my government has been operating since the 40's, a little too late to abruptly stop

War of 1812 was arguably our first loss even though we didn't surrender any territory.

Wikipedia isn't the best example website to get your sources from. I still can't believe people believe this meme/myth that it was a war. We were in fact testing the military "might" of the Polish army and it ended in a Soviet victory if you idiots that we came back in 1939 and destroyed them in less than a month. It would've been terribly confusing if you included all peasant spats crushed. Do you credit it as a win(for the nobles) or lose(for the peasant) or maybe a draw for instance.

They were never part of the Soviet Union. That's why its called the Warsaw pact- its an alliance made up of socialist leaning countries that may or may not be puppet states of the principal sponsor state.

Your "track record" consists of isolating yourself on another continent behind two oceans and counting skirmishes with barefooted natives as real wars (but not really if you got BTFO) equal to marching victorious through the entire Europe after completely eliminating the enemy army.
