Budget $500.
Ideally one that comes with a leather pouch that can go on pants without a belt. Alternatively anybody know good ones of these?
For what purpose?

Sorry. EDC but I'd be very gentle on it.
Also, I think wood looks good.

Mabe?
here's my "gentelman's folder"
GEC #65 in antique autumn jigged bone. ~85 bucks. Light and very functional, nice walk and talk, and polished 1095 takes on a very nice patina. There are wood, stag, and other versions as well.

Is Boker good?
>>30041576
I have no personal experience with bokers, but afaik, as long as it's not the boker plus or whatever, Solingen, Germany has a reputation for making good knives.
I'd stick to gec for traditional folders, but that's just me - it's far from the only viable option.

$500 Gentleman's folder?
That's a lot of options anon.
Sebenzas are definitely worth considerration.
Protech TR3 Integrity is another recommendation.
If you happen to be a fan of bearings, give the Benchmade 761 a try. If not, the 940-1 as well as 484-1 remains another gem for the brand.
You can even go for Boker Kwaiken, or proceed to some of the mid-techs like Brad Southard's Tolk, which is a flipper.
Speaking of that, Spyderco also have plenty of offerings. Check out the Sage line, or collaboration with Marcin Slysz. The Slysz Bowie and Techno are one of the best sellers among Spydies produced in Taichung.
If you happen to be a more firm supporter of US labor, you might not want to miss the Zero Tolerance 0452 (or 0450 if you have smaller hands anon).

I am a Mcusta fan myself, they make fantanstic Damascus patterns, and most folding models looks just so elegant. LAME that I traded one Tacticality for a discontinued Spyderco.
Wood and other natural materials do the job most times. In other occasions titanium, aluminum, G10, carbon fiber or Micarta might look better. Subject to the design IMO.
>500 for a folder
i mean, after $100 there is little discernible quality difference, but OK.
At this budget, may as well go all out and get a chris reeve
