I won't have the money to buy full fun anything in the near future, but I love LMGs. I want a gun with a nice heavy barrel that takes large drums or belts that hand handle somewhat sustained fire. I want a gun that is somewhat impractically large that scream I am overcompensating for something. What's the best way to get there without shelling out more than $1500? Pic related: my dream.

Echo is definitely something I want. I just really like the heavy barrel+drum/belt and bipod aesthetic. i would do evil things for an m240 or a pkm, but there is no way I will have the money for those anytime soon.

Don't have a pic of it with the drum on my phone but its a blast. Alternatively, you could get an RPD (belt fed) for like 2k and blast a nonstop 500rd belt of cheap ammo
Franklin armory binary trigger its out for sell now its got safe semi and double tap trigger settings on the selector it shoots when you pull and shoots when you release and you dont need a ugly looking slide fire stock

Op said he wants a heavy barrel gun with a drum/belt and a bipod. RPK fits that. Fuck, the other offering was a snowflake obscure heavy barrel AR upper and a drum. You're dense if you think that qualifies but an RPK doesn't.
Protip OP, you can bumpfire an entire drum off the bipod super easily, and you can actually aim it too. I have a video somewhere of dumping a 40rd mag in about 4 seconds, most of it hit my man sized target at 100 yards
