Are there any good centerfire rounds similar to .22 that are good for cheap shooting?
Or if such a round doesn't exist yet, would there be the possibility of making a round like that for a gun?

How are rounds like .25 ACP or .22 Hornet?
Just to have a lighter round for like youth rifles and plinking stuff that works on a centerfire design and is still affordable.

.223

9mm is the cheapest center fire there is.

It costs about half as much as .223

Is there really nothing cheaper than 9mm?

Would that be a round suited to a cheap plinking carbine or a line of youth rifles do you think?

yes, and those exist

small carbines chambered in 9mm

Could they ever be popular? Like as something for a small company to be able to make and sell?

I have a particular disliking for rimfire.

They've already made a bunch of tactical 9mm carbines, they're not super popular but they're not uncommon. It would be awesome to have a Ruger 10/22 type 9mm carbine

Yeah, that's pretty much what we're wanting to make.

We were thinking of making little guns so we have market to appeal to other than tactical shit and we're looking into making different pistol caliber carbines for "normal people" like 10/22 and Mini-14 types in pistol calibers.

.17 HMR is always cheap where i live.

how does a bolt .357 sound for plinking. All they need is a semi-auto version.

The only thing that would be considerable would be some warpack surplus ammo. The only pistol one I know of are 9x18 and 7.62x25tok, and the tokarev is all dried up now.
>>
So what's the current skinny on 22LR ammo? Why the hell hasn't it come down yet?
>>
>>30029439
What about something like .25 ACP?
>>
>>30029724
.25 acp, on its own merits is a great round for its niche. Unfortunately, it's not very common, so it's expensive, also, almost all of the guns chambered for it are pot-metal garbage.
>>

Mix of neckbeards selling off their stash at high prices so even the cheap stuff has raised prices, plus higher demand than ever. Every time some sort of world unrest happens, gun and sales surge.

That's a shame.

Been wondering if it would have been worth the effort to pursue as replacement for .22 in light guns, but I guess I'll just stick to 9mm.

Ruger made the Police Carbine series. They were 10/22 style pistol carbine that took P series pistol magazines. The P4 was in .40S&W and the P9 was in 9mm.
>>
.25 is the cheapest when you reload it with buckshot

Good for plinking and vermin

There was also the Marlin Camp 9, a 9mm carbine that takes S&W 59 series pistol magazines.

Why aren't they commercially successful?
>>
>>30031464
The Ruger police carbine was brought out in the mid 90s and ended production in 2006 as departments switched from pistol caliber carbine to short ARs. Ruger didn't actively market them outside law enforcement.

The Marlin Camp 9 was made from 85 to 99. Part of the problem was that USGI M1 Carbines were still widely available and were cheaper than a Camp 9.

Do you think a pistol caliber carbine would sell well in these times now?

One marketed to the public as a nice light plinking gun with cheap ammo?
